Help, please...

I have an AVI video on my computer that I downloaded from teh intarweb. (No, it's not porn.)

It requires the XviD codec to see the visual part. I already had this, of course, but I downloaded and installed it again anyway from the link Windows Media Player gave me. I ended up having to do the install in safe mode because it wouldn't work otherwise.

WMP still says no go, and so do QuickTime and RealPlayer and probably every other random video player I have on my system.

What do I do? I hate technology. :(

ETA: Did a clean uninstall of XviD, reinstalled it (in "normal" mode), and this time the installation was smooth. Have restarted, but the issue still isn't solved. Maybe it's a problem with the video? Or maybe my system is retarded. D:
