Cat Figurines!

Finally! The clay figurines are dry! And instead of finding out how to get my teacher registration, and start registering . . . I got side-tracked, and got way too excited and ended up painting two of the figurines! Anyway, here is a video I took of them when I had just finished painting them:

I thought it was a good way to show the figurines, and show all the details I had painted on, but here are some pictures!

I started off by penciling in some details, and as the clay was still kind of spongy/squishy, I just did it really lightly so that I wouldn't make any dents!

I then started to paint them. The Leila cat one was a bit more complicated, given that it needed more colours.

And I had to paint them in parts, else I wouldn't be able to hold them to paint!

Ohoho, belly up! I do love how their little paws are pointed XD I added details to their undersides too! Me being a perfectionist, needed all the little details right - geh.

This was when I had just done their eyes, cheek marks, and eye shines done. I wanted to do it a bit different compared to my charms - as these are much bigger, and can have a bit more detail. So I added a colour for their eyes, while still having black pupils.

It turned out quite nicely! A bit hard to see here, but Leila has dark green ones. I added in the black stripes for the Leila cat. Jasper cat was easy, black and white, and yellow for eyes ^_^ Although his cow spots gave me a hard time - using pictures are references, the spots would look different in different poses!

They can stand up on their own which is great. Although they do fall over easily, due to their oversized heads!

I am really pleased with how they turned out, and the size is good, since look at how much detail I could add in!

There is one thing I need to say about the clay though - there were a few cracks along the joins - especially with the heads onto the bodies. But at least that can be fixed with paint! And soon, glaze, to make sure it all stays together!

Oh, and this a photo of the two of them. She has green eyes, but she's pretty sleepy here. Pretty accurate to the figurines, no? Anyway, I will paint the other figurines soon! I'm thinking that it would be nice to do custom figurines for people who want to have a figurine of their cat. I wonder if I can do other pets too? Hmmm, it's an idea I will have to kick around for a bit. I will have to get a bit of work done before I do though, else I will be sidetracked and all I will do is crafting and no prepping for uni/prac!
