Sweets and Things

I've taken a bit to recover from Wai-con - but by no means does that mean I have been doing nothing! :D I've finally gotten to around to baking the little chibi charms, and they are on their way to being painted! Looking at how I made the hair makes me wonder how the heck I did it in the first place ... but I will find out soon enough when I make more! I plan on making sets of chibi charms from Naruto, Death Note, DragonBallZ, Bleach and Full Metal Panic. Admittedly, the last choice is more for myself than anything else, since I can never find much of anything from FMP anywhere - most likely they won't be popular, but I'm not concerned about that.

I also have plans to fix all my hats and put the features on the faceless ones, and also to make a batch of pig hats, and also a new range of pokemon hats! ^_^ I'm thinking of making five different types of pokemon hats, and I will have to figure out which pokemon they will be based on, of course I will be making pikachu since I've made one before, but for the other four I will have to consider how I can make it, and how complicated it will be, since if it's too complicated I would most likely kill myself making them!

But enough of that, some picture of some new sets of charms I'm thinking of adding onto my already large range! Cakes and sweets!

Some cakes, donuts, cruller, cookies, eclairs and other baked goods. And of course, some sweets and chocolate, ice cream and a random rose ...

I had quite a bit of fun with the puff paint for the icing, and the sprinkles, it makes painting so much easier! And glossing them makes them less likely to stick to each other (I found out unfortunately with the popsicle magnets that if I put them together the puff paint tended to stick to each other! X( but that was sorted at least)

I am thinking I will do a range of cakes, with different 'fondant' icing, of pink and white, same for the donuts, and for the cookies, I may instead paint them to match the magnets and have single cookies instead of the cookies with cream - I shall have to see after I've baked my batch of clay!

Anyway, another thing I have been doing, is experimenting with needle felting - basically you get wool roving, and you stab it with these felting needles, which actually are just these fine barbed needles, and this compacts the wool and you can shape it and add colour and etc, and I tried making a doll of Chidori from Full Metal Panic:

I covered some chenille sticks for her arms and legs so that they would be able to be pose, and I used felt for her hair. I decided to put her in a blue dress and some black boots - actually started her out to having in her school uniform and black boots - but realised that since I was using white for her face and arms and legs, using white for her shirt will end up having her look...topless....heh

I also added the red bow in her long hair! She's just missing eyes and cheeks, contemplating if I should add a mouth though ... Hmmm - But at least I know I've made her look like Chidori, I showed it to my sister and she exclaimed "Chidori!" So I'm pretty pleased with how my experiment worked out! It took a bit of time to make it, and I accidently stabbed myself twice with the damn needles, but it looks pretty cute! I think I will make a Sousuke doll too, and maybe add it to my range of things? We shall see... But for now, I need to make more charms to replace the ones that were sold, and fix the hats and so on and so forth!
