I've been making a focused effort to be more active recently. I can't afford a gym membership, but I do have my legs and they are free to take me wherever I please. I bought a pedometer to track my progress. I try to log 5,000 steps four times a week and 8,000 three times a week. It is quite a task to log 8,000 steps a day given that I'm a full-time secretary, but I do what I can. Before I get into my car to go to work in the morning I walk around the neighborhood and during my breaks I take a stroll around the office and out into the parking lot. It's nice to get away from my desk and the florescent lights. My biggest contribution to my walking would be when I take our dogs for a walk. We're all pooped by the end of it, but I figure if I keep doing this every day we should all start seeing an improvement. I hope to make this a habit before the summer heat sets in and deters me from going outside. Only time will tell if I can keep this up. I certainly hope so.
I bought a Wii on Friday. What a great system! I'm having a lot of fun playing Mario Galaxy and I bought DDR yesterday. Should get it from Amazon by the end of the week. Sadly, that is the end of my entertainment budget this month (and yes, it is only the 5th.) But I'm pleased with my purchase. Between the Wii, playing FFXIII at my dad's, my daily walking goals, and some other small side projects, I should be set for things to do.
spatulistic leaves for five months on a cruise ship on Friday. I'm going to miss her terribly when she's gone. Bon voyage!
