At This Moment, You Mean Everything

I've had an interesting couple of weeks. Mostly work-related. I'm slowly adjusting to my new cubicle-centered life: living for casual Fridays, being awkwardly sarcastic with my attorneys about the workload, and keeping myself energized with a cup of coffee on my break at 11:00. The work is really difficult because there's a huge learning curve, but that just means that when I get something right, I feel a huge sense of accomplishment. And I have yet to make any unforgivable mistakes, so there's hope for me. I won't say that it's all been happy-fun-time, but any job that is all happy-fun-time would be just weird. And possibly involve a cult.

Ah, the big news would be that I bought a car a few weeks ago. It's nothing to brag about (a little beater '94 dark green Nissan Altima with 128,000+ miles,) but it is 100% mine. I bought it, paid for six months worth of insurance, gave up my left arm for the title transfer fee (that was a painful $475--thanks a lot 100% tax hike!) and $300 in repairs. But all that was paid with CASH out-of-pocket. I don't owe a dime to anyone for that car. From here, I just hope it will last me a long time, at least until I achieve my dreams and can buy a brand-new Honda Civic Hybrid (again, out-of-pocket!) In the meantime, Carbuncle will do just fine. That's right. Continuing my long-running tradition of naming all my major purchases after Final Fantasy summons, I have decided to use Carbuncle, the GF from Final Fantasy VIII (at least, that's where I know him best from.) After all, "car" is built into the name. Also, he is rather unsightly, so the other meaning of the name fits. Yes, it was meant to be.

And, no, I will never, ever stop being a dork. Quit getting your hopes up.

cubicle life, money, yay
