It has been snowing all morning. The weather report swears it's just sleet, but I've never seen more snow-like snow. It's not sticking though, thank God. I have stuff to do today.
The thing about snow is that it's completely silent as it falls, but you can tell it's snowing even before you look out the window because you can feel it. As soon as I threw my blankets off this morning, I knew it was snowing. Keep in mind that I am from Florida and thus I have very little experience with cold weather. This sensitivity to snow falling must be a latent skill within every human being.
Of course, snow comes with freezing temperatures. That's all fine and good as long as I can stay curled up under my kotatsu at home with a cup of hot tea in my hands at all times, but I have to work tomorrow. And tomorrow seems like more of the same weather. Let me tell ya how much I'm looking forward to sitting in an unheated concrete building for eight hours. Fun! Then the rest of the week I'll be forced, along with every other ALT in Kochi, to sit together in an unheated, uninsulated building while listening to lectures for eight hours. It's a lot like being at school, only now with no shoes on and in business attire.
Ah, my glamorous life in Japan.
I do not want to spend another winter here. Add one more point to the "Go" list. But then I'd get to spend another spring here, so I guess it cancels out? I don't know... As wonderful as spring is, winter is just as miserable. Ug, will this torturous thought cycle ever end?
I have a sickening feeling that I'm going to be vaguely unhappy with either decision I finally make.
