Time Travel is Always a Bad Idea

Friday I finally broke down and turned on my air conditioner. Goodbye to my wonderful 2,500 yen electric bills. It has just gotten way too hot, even at night. Thursday night I slept very badly and woke up drenched in sweat. Boo. Still, I'm much more comfortable now than I was in winter. This time six months ago I was shivering under four blankets and close to tears. I'll take heat and humidity over the cold any day. Even without an air conditioner, I know how to handle the heat. It's just so much easier with an air conditioner than without. ;P

Today I had four lessons at Ogawa Elementary. The more I see these kids, the more I like them. There are a couple 4th years kids that I feel like backhanding sometimes, but even those two have their moments. I used my alligator head again to win affection. It's a shame I won't be able to use it next semester without seeming like a one-trick pony. With the way I recycle lessons, I already feel that way. Heh.

But the lessons went great. Played Hello, Hello, Goodbye with the 1st and 2nd years (a few tears came out of that, but what you gonna do? Elementary school kids cry.) 5th and 6th years (the three of them) learned "Do you have ~" and we played Go Fish, then War. 4th years learned numbers 1~10. 3rd years did body parts and we played the Twister game that I brought from home. I was worried about it, but it was a hit! The only problem was that the games took way too long to finish. We went over time by 30 minutes because the kids wanted to keep playing! But, hey, at least they liked it. I would've stayed there all day if they wanted.

Yesterday I went out and bought myself an external hard drive (ソトジケHDD in Japanese--go me!) It only has a 640gb memory capacity (記憶容量 in Japanese... again, I rock) I was hoping to find one with a terabyte or more, but I'll take what I can get right here in Sakawa. I didn't feel like going all the way to AEON in Kochi City. As it was, I felt this one was pretty cheap (about $120) and seems to be running very well. I can even download stuff directly into it fairly quickly. It's still faster to download onto my first hard drive, but it's nice to have the option.

Tomorrow I have three 1st year classes at Sakawa Jr High 1st, 2nd, and 3rd period. After that, I have no classes and--whoa--no more elementary lessons to plan! Must bring things do to tomorrow as I will have a whole lot of free time. Finally!

Wow. I can't believe it's 6 already. I'm going to start on dinner.
