Classes went pretty awesome this week seeing as how it's the end of the year and the students are sick of studying and the teachers are sick of teaching. Of course, that's when they turn to the ALT (as if crawling toward an oasis in the desert) for games. And I've racked up a few pretty great games that are completely modifiable for any ability level. The "Friends Bingo" is the most popular, with "Treasure Island" and "Get 4" not far behind. Let me tell ya, there's nothing more satisfying than seeing the kids enjoy the game you put so much work into and were so nervous about introducing. Nothing I have ever done in my life has been more satisfying.
Thursday was my last lesson for this year at Kuroiwa. For the 2nd and 1st years, no big deal really. I'll see them again in a few weeks. However, it was my very last lesson with the 3rd years. Man, I'm going to miss those kids. I really loathed the class at first, but after spending a few weeks with them and learning that we all share a love of Final Fantasy, I wish I could have every day with them. They hate to study, never repeat after me, never speak to me in English unless forced to, and yet they're my favorite group. Why? Really, it beats me. They just say funny things, ask me what video games I'm currently playing (in Japanese,) and just generally seem to like me. And it's so rare to have that feeling in this line at work. At least with me. And that's why I felt compelled to make them brownies. There isn't any other class I feel like making brownies for except them. I only feed those I like. lolz
Well, anyway, I'll say my goodbyes come Thursday when we have graduation preparation. That will officially be the last time I see them. D: It's really kind of sad. But, life goes on.
Tomorrow I'm leaving my apartment at 7:15 and heading further west than I've ever gone to attend a two-day dance retreat for Genki. I'm carpooling with a friend of mine who lives in the next town over west. We don't know whose car to take, so we're going to junkan for it tomorrow. lolz. I find that extremely amusing.
We're leaving at 5:30 on Sunday, which means I'll get home probably a little before 8 (if I'm lucky.) I'll then have four hours max to make and bake five pumpkin pies for Ogawa on Monday. >.< When I suggested I'd make the pies, I didn't know that we had a retreat that weekend. And I meant to make the pies after work today, but FBC had a snafoo and won't deliver the ingrediants until Saturday. D: So I'm stuck making them Sunday night.
Sheesh. The things I do for 3rd years.
I have a ton of other things to write about, but I have to get going. I still need to clean the kitchen, wash the dishes, and pack in two hours.
Everything will just have to wait until Monday. Night!
