nothing in three fits

I find words inadequate to describe certain aspects and states of life. Through common usage words take on new meanings and misconceptions via implied association on the part of society. It is difficult to discuss things in terms of the Collective and the Individual, for example, since a wide spectrum of concepts are attached to each word. The two are irreversibly intertwined in reality so as to make discussion of one being ultimate a silly undertaking. Max Stirner had found it impossible to properly articulate some of his theories since he was "grappling with a language corrupted by the philosophers, debauched by the henchmen of the State, of religion and of other beliefs, a language that has been turned into a generator of an unfathomable mismash of ideas." Those are in his own words used to partially explain the "clumsy" writing of his books.

He argued for the Individual above all else - particularly above that of the state - but viewed association with others as necessary and rewarding when done voluntarily. This idea which he suggested as 'personalism' or "Egoists' associations" makes sense but it's hard to believe in when you review the legacy it has brought: Benito Mussolini admired Stirner although once in power over Fascist Italy he attacked those ideas. Friedrich Nietzsche was familiar with Max Stirner although he never gave formal credit to him despite writing ideas that likely resulted from reading Stirner. Prominent figures within Nazi Germany quoted Nietzsche (i.e. his Übermensch concept) and as a result he is sometimes misrepresented as a 'proto-Nazi'.

Again, implied associations - even when shown to be false and without basis - ruin language and make it inadequate in sharing particular experiences and ideas. A picture, or sound even, is much more free of those limitations and able to convey a message by itself. The viewer derives meaning from an image. Largely I'd rather view paintings, posters, photographs, sketches, etc. by themselves without any explanatory text accompanying them. Of course having the information available when requested is wonderful but the negative capability of the unadulterated image is supreme.
