Die hard with a vengeance

Though it might appear otherwise, I'm neither MIA nor have dropped off the surface of the Earth. Just a bit caught up with RL and taking a bit of break from active Lj fandom.
But not from pondering over and ruminating on on-line communication and interactive fandom involvement altogether (what? I do that for a living, in case you're wondering).

That said, the love child of those extended musings of mine and my trusted confidante-cum-collegue is an Interdisciplinary Conference currently in the works to accomodate the burning issues of on-line interactive discourse within the realm of mass-culture creative output of various media, otherwise known as FANDOM (yeah, I'm lucky enough to fare the professional field where that kind of indulgence is actually tantamount to professional activity).

In case you're interested to partake (which you are most welcome to) or otherwise provide efficient input, please feel free to contact me either at Lj or at idicmc@gmail.com.

CALL FOR PAPERS

- Fandom: subject matter, cultural and social paradigm, embodiment;
- Interactive Discourse: diversity of communicative practices, strategies and genres;

- Fan Fiction: definition, methods, ideology, typology, genres and styles.

Theoretic Field(s) / Paradigms: Cognitive Linguistics, Communicative Linguistics and Communication Theory, Literature Studies, Cultural Anthropology, Text Studies, Sociology, Sociolinguistics, Psychology, Philosophy of Language and Communication.

Forum Description and Manifest:
Vast and varied paradigm of contemporary mass-culture evokes a dynamic, expressive and diverse cognitive, communicative and cultural feedback, constituting thus an integrated interactive discourse otherwise known as fandom. While the scope of practices for fannish indulgement have been functionally employed worldwide for quite a while, the subject matter of fandom as an interactive communicative medium and ambient has been heretofore marginalized by theoretical mainstream of modern humanities, social science and cultural anthropology. The objective of First Interdisciplinary Conference-Forum “Interactive Discourse of Contemporary Mass Culture: Literature, TV, Cinema” is to supply a coherent framework for key communicative and interactive aspects and parameters of fandom construction and dynamics. Thematic scope of the forum presupposes an interdisciplinary approach of the phenomenon in question in order to attain comprehensive results that would facilitate an integrated vision of the interactive communicative environment of modern mass-culture in the expanse of its forms.
