I have observed that many strong empaths had an unhappy childhood, or were abused in their childhood. I have wondered what might behind that. Does an abusesive childhood do something to whit the edge of the empath's gift, or does the personality of the child who is an empath predispose him to abuse because he is different from most children, or perhaps my sample is tainted. Perhaps because most of the empaths that I have met have been on line, perhaps empaths who were abused in childhood are attracted to online communication because it feels safer than IRL and those who were not abused in their childhood feel no need to hide. Who knows.
