Everything was prepared and ready for the spell. Angel had given me the necklace of Anyanka a few days past. It had taken the last few days to find the rest of the information on the spell that we would need.
Miss Burkle had been quite resourceful with researching. She actually found the text which Miss Willow based the writing of the spell on.
I decided that it would be best for me to cast this spell. It could have dire consequences if done incorrectly. Not that I doubt Willow's ability in spell casting, I just don't want anything to happen to her. It has been awkward working together again. There are times when I have looked up from a text or parchment that I had been reading, and I catch her eyes on me. She has this sorrowful, mournful look. It makes me want to just take her into my arms and comfort her. But I bolloxed that up, just as surely as I will bollox this spell up.
I realize that all of our lives hang in the balance while Faith and her friends are without their souls. That is what is giving me the confidence to do this.
I hear my father's voice in my head. He always comes to me in times like these, when others are depending upon me to do the right thing. "Boy! What would the council say? Your slayer has lost her soul. What do you think you can do about it?" Those are his words that I hear over and over in different ways. I haven't been able to sleep and it's been keeping me up at night, worrying about what will happen and what is going to happen if I do this wrong.
Angel was down right reluctant about doing the spell in his flat. I think it was Miss Chase that finally convinced him that we really had no other place to go that was safe to preform it. Angel was also adamant about me not being the one to cast the spell. We had a long private discussion. I finally won the debate stating that he did not have the magic background and Willow was much to young in her magic to preform such a spell. Angel argued also that I was still injured. The stitches at my neck were not yet removed and the burns on my legs were still oozing. I would hear nothing of that and that was that.
Just after midnight, we gathered around Angel's dining room table. Each of them forming a part of a power circle. Each had different herbs that they were to ignite on my command.
I put the notebook paper down in front of me, that Willow had written on. Right next to the paper I placed the pendant of Anyanka. By my right hand, a mallet for which I would smash the necklace at the appropriate time.
"Ready?" I asked all of them. They all gave me their silent nod.
Fred was seated to my left. "Light your sage please." She lit it with the candle that was at the center of the table.
I started the incantation.
Nushak ti odo renduk ni wishalik
"Miss Chase light your herbs." She rolled her eyes and stuck hers into the flame of the candle.
Sono bi altuem eldoop rezhchs
I nodded at Angel. He lit his herbs.
Esqeran bala tren ovaa este oust
Willow lit her herbs without me having to ask her.
Domo kaza dum ala ne poko kilahash
I took the mallet in my hand. I started to chant the four lines over and over. I smashed the pendant. A flash of bright orange light engulfed the room.
My eyes were on fire. I barely heard Cordelia say, "What's up with his eyes?"
Nushak ti odo renduk ni wishalik! Sono bi altuem eldoop rezhchs!
Esqeran bala tren ovaa este oust! Domo Kaza dum ala ne poko kilahash!
The room turned ice cold. I felt something powerful pass through me. I hunched forward. The spell was complete. I looked down at the white paper. A drop of blood landed on it. Then a few more. I put my hand to my neck. Blood started to pour out of my wound. I was able to gasp, "Help" right before I blacked out.
