Chapter 11

After they parted ways the night of their ‘date’, neither of them had contacted each other again except for the short phone call Yunho made to Jaejoong informing the latter (as he had requested) that he had safely arrived home. It’s been a couple of days since, and Yunho still glances at his phone every few minutes hoping to receive a call from Jaejoong.

“Awe…” Yunho lets out a disappointed groan as looks his cellphone screen for the umpteenth time.

Still no call…

“Why hasn’t he called me?” Yunho asks to himself. “Did he forget me already?”

He jumps unto his bed and buries his head into his pillow, screaming into it to release some of the tension building up in his mind.

Even though he tries to deny it, he really misses his angel.  A mere couple of days without hearing Jaejoong’s sweet voice can make him go insane. Yunho craved for his angel. Every minute, the scenes of their short time together flashes in his head, making him smile uncontrollably which doesn’t help his yearning at all.

With one swift motion, he grabs his phone again, dialing the familiar number, yet before he pushes the call button he puts down the phone with another sigh.

“I can’t just call him!” He lets out a frustrated groan. “It would make me seem too desperate…”

‘I am desperate though…’ His mind answers back.

Thinking of that, he pulls out his phone again. “Maybe I can ask him to hang out again… Just as friends...”

‘Friends can hang out right?’ Yunho asks himself. ‘If so… Then why hasn’t he called me? Maybe he doesn’t want to hang out with me anymore? After all, he does have his other friends…’

In the midst of his heated mind battle, his phone rang. Yunho immediately brings it up to his ears hoping to hear the voice of the angel he has waited so long to hear from.

“Hello?” He asks tentatively, trying hard to steady his speeding heart.

“Yunho.” The voice on the other end stated. That voice was dejected of any warmth or sweetness that emitted from Jaejoong. This definitely isn’t the voice he wants to hear… Actually, it was far from it.

“Heechul?”

“Forgot your ex-boyfriend that quickly?” Heechul lets out a sarcastic laugh. “At least you still recognize my voice.”

“Why did you call?” Yunho asks hesitantly, not sure if he wants to know.

“Now, is that any way to talk to a friend? Even though we broke up we can still be friends right?” Heechul replies.

‘He still wants to be friends?’ Yunho is stumped by Heechul’s words. The Heechul he knew didn’t seem like the kind of person that would still want to be friends with his ex-boyfriend. But then again… Isn’t this a good thing? Now Yunho doesn’t have to worry about getting Heechul’s approval for going out with Jaejoong. Wasn’t that what he wanted in the first place?

…That is exactly want Yunho wants. In fact, all the things he wanted have been coming true! A little too easily… Was something going on that he is not aware of? Or… could it be that God is finally answering his prayers?

“You still there?” Heechul asks after a moment without hearing any reply from Yunho.

“I’m sorry, my mind is a little preoccupied at the moment.”

“That’s fine. I was going to ask…” Heechul stops himself suddenly, “Never mind, I’ll let you go if you are busy.”

“Is there something I can help you with?” Yunho asks, didn’t want Heechul to think that he doesn’t want to be friends anymore.

“Um… Nothing really important, I was just bored… Since I had no one else to ask… I wondered if you could go to my house and bring my laptop to the hospital. Its insanely boring here.” Heechul says hesitantly. “But if you are busy, then never mind…”

Hearing Heechul requesting him to go to his house, which also happens to be Jaejoong’s house, Yunho immediately agrees. “I can find some time to get it for you.”

The excitement in Yunho’s voice didn’t go unheard by Heechul, as the latter smirks with satisfaction knowing his plan was going very well with little intervention.

“Thanks Yunho.” Heechul says sweetly.

“Don’t mention it. I’ll drop by later today.” Yunho says, eagerly hanging up the phone.

‘Now I have a good excuse to visit my angel!’ Yunho hurries to take a shower and prepare himself, waiting to look presentable in front of his love.

“Chunnie-ah, I’m fine! Don’t worry about me!” Jaejoong grumbles into his phone.

“How can I not worry about you? You haven’t called me since you rushed out on me, and you definitely don’t sound fine to me!” Yoochun is indeed very worried.

Ever since that day Jaejoong left in a car with someone he has never meet before, Yoochun as been particularly worried. He even called Junsu hoping the latter could help him figure out whom this ‘Yunnie’ was, and why Jaejoong ditched him for that mysterious guy. When Jaejoong hasn’t called him at all since then, its been three days already, and the two of them have never gone more than a day without speaking to each other, Yoochun can’t help but feel extremely anxious for Jaejoong’s wellbeing.

“Why haven’t you called me?” Yoochun asks in a softer tone.

“Sorry Chunnie, I’ve been really tired the past few days.” Jaejoong tries to stifle the oncoming coughs, but ending up coughing louder.

“Jae! Are you okay?” Yoochun jumps up to his feet when he hears Jaejoong’s uncontrollable coughs.

“I’m fine.” Jaejoong squeezes out these words when his coughs calms down. “Just a little fever.”

“Fever?!” Yoochun screams while grabbing his car keys. “I’m coming over right now.”

“No, Chunnie, I’m fine-” Jaejoong tries to explain, but the phone was already cut off. He could almost see a worried Yoochun in his sport car racing to get to his house.

‘I guess I can’t hide it anymore.’ Jaejoong hates being sick. Since he rarely gets sick, whenever he catches a little cold or sports a fever, his family and friends would get overly worked up about it. Since his parents were out for a business trip these days, and Heechul is in the hospital… though Heechul never did care whether Jaejoong’s sick or not... Jaejoong even gave the maids and butlers a holiday to prevent them from knowing and informing his parents. He thought he would successfully hide the fact he has a fever until he gets better. He didn’t call Yoochun for the precise reason knowing Yoochun would act the way he is acting right now.

Just a few minutes later, the doorbell rang.

‘Chunnie is even faster this time…’ Jaejoong thinks to himself.

He slowly gets up from his bed, trudging down the stairs, halfheartedly throws open the door which brought a big surprise to him.

“Yunho?” He blinks his big round else rapidly, thinking he was sick to the point that he was delusional.

“Jae!” Yunho himself was very surprised. He had expected the butler to open the door, but he was his angel, still in his cute pajamas, looked at him with a confused expression. But something was off… His already pale skin is even paler, his plump red lips is almost devoid of any color… In short, he looked sick.

Right then, realization hit him full on. So that is why his angel didn’t call him. How stupid was he to forget they were soaked wet from the fall in the river! How could he be so ignorant and not think of the fact his angel could catch a cold? It was almost inevitable. He would have been sick himself if it wasn’t for his excellent immune system.

“Jae, we are getting you to bed. Right now.” Without another word, he picks Jaejoong up bridal style, carries him to his room, and tucks him back into bed.

Yunho presses his palm against Jaejoong’s forehead, feeling the burning fever the other had acquired, and mentally smacks himself for being the reason why his angel in such a state… If only he had took better care of his angel…

“You are not getting out of bed again.” It wasn’t a request, but an order. “I will stay here until you are all better.” Yunho looks deep into Jaejoong’s eyes, taking his hand into his own.

For the first time in his life, Jaejoong didn’t mind the fuss about him getting sick. He didn’t mind being taken care of. That unexplainable blissful feeling reappears as Yunho brushes his bangs out of his face caringly.
