Okay, so I'm dumb.
I more or less posted this last week, but managed to somehow overwrite it with the one I made today. Thankfully, I had an extra copy saved somewhere that contained most of it, as this is the way I keep track of my favorites these days. Some stories are missing, but most of it should be here.

Sam gets a call from Dean while at a bar, hearing gunshots in the background.
- Very human, in touch with Sam's whole Stanford-era, "I don't want to care, but I secretly do," vibe. Twist at the end.
And to All a Good Night by veronamay
Sam's a little drunk. Dean's sleepy. There's cuddling.
- It's Sam/Dean, rated G, but it can easily be read as Gen as well. Cuddling wins every time and this is well-written on top of it all.

Sam knew there were lots of things he still didn't know about Dean. The past two and a half years had been full of startling revelations, and this was possibly the most startling of all.
- Dean's new hobby is hilarious and Sam's reaction is even better. Aside from that, I really like the dynamics in this. The giving-Dean vs. understatedly gracious-Sam.

- One of those "Oh Dean" interactions between father and son, because Dean just tries so hard.

Dean has been gone for two years. On Christmas Day, an old friend brings him back to Sam's doorstep.
- Heartbreaking and hard to read, with an ending that leaves it open for hope.

- Asylum is one of my favorite episodes for tags, but so many out there are just clones of others. This one is refreshing.

- Amulet fic where Sam justifies giving Dean the amulet instead of John, "I'd rather the monsters get Dad than Dean," which is proven to translate directly into, "Good story."

- Title says it all, really. Looking through the trunk of the Impala, Sam finds some postcards that Dean wrote to him during the Stanford era but never sent. Pulls at the heartstrings, good voice for Dean in this as well.

Dean keeps his word, and ramifications scatter like salt shot. Secrets, liquor, and bad things.
- Stories about addiction draw me in and keep me there, though this one is so much more than that. I read this all in one setting.

Attending a new school in March, the boys pretend to be unrelated until June.
- The premise is interesting and different, yet still quite plausible.

- This is one of those stories I’d seen on about every rec list I’ve ever visited, but for some reason never got around to reading. Now I understand completely why it had been on every rec list ever.
I Got Me a Nice Little Place in the Stars by luzdeestrellas (PG)
Sam ran away from everything life as a Winchester promised, trying to find his place in the world, but when Dean showed up at his door, needing a place to stay, he realized that without Dean, no place was home
- One of my favorites; any story that has Dean saying, "The name's Dean. I used to change your diapers and tuck you in at night; I don't know if you remember," is pretty much proven to win me over.

A year after Dean's death Sam is finally ready to move on
… Only he doesn’t have to. Love, love, love this.

- Domestic schmoop adorableness paired with her standard well-written plot.

Endings are hard. Beginnings are harder. Supernatural wraps up and Jared and Jensen approach the next year in radically different fashion.
- The after-Supernatural concept is my favorite and this is just so cute. Plus second chapter is really cool- actual postcards. Multimedia.

Started with, "Who would have guessed that watching someone heave their lunch into a wastebasket could make you realize that, hey, maybe you have a thing for them," evolved into their imperfect, yet still amazing romance.
- This is my favorite, hands down. So many of the J2 fics out there are all about the sex, two seconds in, which doesn't serve the boys justice. This one, however, is paced so beautifully, handled so gracefully with so much realistic care, that it pans out into an absolutely gorgeous saga. Love this.
The Jared Padalecki Project by esohpe
After Supernatural, Jensen and Jared aren't talking. But a film's a film and Jensen could really use the money.
- Beautiful concept, great progression with a heartbreakingly persistant Jared and a Jensen that's trying as hard as he can to hate him. Pacing is perfect and it addresses all the questions you had in the beginning, but in its own time.
