on sex before marriage (part one)

"All I'll have to give my husband is a dirty, used gift."
-- Hannah, featured in a why kNOw commercial.
if you are interested in seeing the why kNOw commercials, visit www.whyknow.org.

why kNOw is an abstinence-only curriculum used in many schools across the country. it was one of over 10 curriculums reviewed in a federally funded examination of the programs. the report found that over 80% of the reviewed curriculums "contain false, misleading, or distorted information about reproductive health."

i have spent over 20 hours reading (and reading and reading) information for a paper i have to write for school; my topic is writing persuasively for comprehensive sex-education. in the process of all this research and learning so much information from both sides of the issue, i have *some* ranting i need to expel. when i read the quote to my mom and showed her the commercial she said she agreed with it [to which i replied "i am NOT dirty OR used OR AN OBJECT"], so i need to find somewhere to talk about all of the info where i wont be infuriated even more.
since i need time to absorb all of this information and to get my sources straight, i will probably be writing a little bit in lots of short bursts. i am hoping to include something on my website when i am done, though. i've put way more time and effort than is actually required into this paper, and would not be content to slim all the information i have gotten into 4 double spaced typed pages.

I just would like to state for the record that I am not  dirty OR used because of my decision to have sex before marriage, nor am I an OBJECT that can be GIVEN to or OWNED by someone, and I resent the fact that the government funds the teaching of these ideas to students across the country.
