The corner that introduces artists’ music and taste - ‚Personal Taste‘. This time we’re together with the Solutions who revived as a 4 member band.
Please introduce yourself with a short greeting.
Park Sol: I‘m Park Sol, in charge of vocals and being the tallest.
Naru: Hello, I‘m Naru. I‘m doing the guitar-play, synthesizer, programming, chorus etc. in the Solutions. Nice to meet you!
Han Sol: I play drums in the bands The Solutions and Hologram Film, I‘m Park Han Sol.
Oh Kyung: Hello. I play bass in The Solutions, I‘m Kwon Oh Kyung. Ah, and I do some slight chorus too.

Park Sol: Naru, in charge of being The Solutions‘ spiritual pillar and being a beauty in every respect. Oh Kyung, at the same time the oldest but also the most immature character. I wonder what he‘d do if he wouldn‘t have played bass. Han Sol, seems to have deep thoughts, but also seems to live thoughtless, seems to look handsome, but also seems sometimes quite ugly, a drummer with such a twisting charme.

If you could give just one of your songs to be listened to, which song would you choose and why?
Park Sol: Please give our new song ‚Love You Dear‘ a lot of love.
Naru: ‚My War‘, recently during concerts this song is the most exciting one.
Han Sol: ‚L.O.V.E.‘ because I like it.
Oh Kyung: ‚Sounds of the Universe‘, it‘s an exciting song that lets one feel the harmony of synthesizer and band.
What was the most memorable thing during your work on your recently released EP ‚No Problem!‘?
Park Sol: The memories in Miami. It was a time like a dream, I don‘t know if it was work or holidays.
Han Sol: For me too it‘s the one week in Miami.
Naru: The shooting of the ‚Love You Dear‘ music video. We shot it under the close teamwork of the label staff, and the result came out well and interesting, it fills my heart. (The staff at large had a cameo appearance)
Oh Kyung: During the recordings, Naru had a really hard time. Because there were really a lot of things to do. (Still, the other members didn‘t just fool around either, haha) Please support Naru a lot more.
What is the best about becoming a 4 member band officially? Is there something unfortunate about it?
Park Sol: Oh Kyung‘s level of participation and passion became obviously different. There is not really a bad point.
Naru: Good point: the talents of the members shine bright. Their appearance too... Inconvenient point: my talent looked less good to the people who saw us at first. My appearance too...
Han Sol: That I don‘t have to explain every little detail and can just say ‚We‘re The Solutions‘.
Oh Kyung: A good point is, that I can take part in all the (making) processes, the sad part is, that I have to take part in all the processes. I want to be busy, but when I‘m actually busy, I don’t like that, I am like a tree frog*...

Naru: Smashing Pumpkins‘ ‚Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness‘ is the album I still (probably) listen to the most.
Han Sol: I saw X-Japan‘s Hide and wanted to become like that. (Though the guitar gave me headaches, so I gave up on that)
Oh Kyung: When I was younger, my teacher was Achtung‘s bassist Ahn Byung Chul, he gave me a song by ‚Great Stone Face‘ as a homework. I think from that time on I vaguely thought ‚Bass is fun, should I try it a bit more?‘
What songs are you currently enjoying listening to?
Park Sol: Maroon5‘s Sugar

Han Sol: I‘ll likely be listening to Muse‘s new album for a while.

Park Sol: I think that every moment I am on the stage singing.
Naru: Every time I hear stories about people listening to our music and gaining strength.
Han Sol: It‘s not a lie, I feel it every moment. When I see people being happy, when I see me being happy, even when I can oversleep.
Oh Kyung: I too have a lot of these moments... when the fans like us, when the members show some kind of faith, when I practice alone, I have these thoughts.
Aside from music, what‘s your biggest interest?
Park Sol: Regardless of time, money and environment, recently I worry a lot about ‚how can I live more joyfully within the conditions given to me?‘
Naru: It‘s different from time to time, currently it‘s writing poems.
Han Sol: Life and happiness.
Oh Kyung: I tend to have a lot of interest in financial technologies.
Please tell us a bit more details about your interest.
Park Sol: Actually, aside from the hobbies that everyone else has, like watching movies or reading books, I don‘t really have an interest except music that I can exactly call a hobby. Come to think of it, on days when I have no schedule, I somehow indulge in some kind of lethargy or tediousness. So while I‘m meeting people from other fields or hold some meetings, I‘m currently trying hard to expand my interests one by one.
Naru: I write poetical sentiments on my smartphone or a notebook whenever I think of something. Will they ever be able to see the light (of day)?
Han Sol: I always worry about life and happiness. I think music is also something for the sake of it.
Oh Kyung: KOSPI* or America‘s Dow Jones etc. In 2015 the cosmetics industry grew a lot indeed, things like that.

The city you liked the most during last year‘s Europe Tour?
Park Sol: Paris, after all. Because it‘s the city we stayed at for the longest time in our journey. (Looking at it, barely 3 days still) Actually, at the other places, after arrival we performed, we slept, woke up and moved right away to the next city. Because of that schedule, we were really exhausted and had no time to feel the city‘s certain atmosphere at all.
Naru: For me too Paris.
Han Sol: Me too. We stayed there the longest, but the city really has a romantic feel to it.
Oh Kyung: I can‘t choose. I liked them all.
Is there an unforgettable happening during the Europe Tour that you still talk about between the members?
Park Sol: There is this happening where we were eating hamburgers in Paris and my smartphone, that I bought not even half a year ago, got pick-pocketed. Because it happened just 5 days after the tour began, I traveled Europe for about half a month, but I have not one picture of it left. It’s a heart-aching episode.
Naru: We had to carry our band equipment and our own luggage, and we went quite a time through Moscow from the airport to the concert hall, I remember that. It‘s the first time after the army I had such hard times.
Han Sol: When we members enjoyed our free time among ourselves in the hotel room.
Oh Kyung: When Sol‘s phone was stolen. They really took it in a brief moment... By the way, when we went to America, Han Sol lost his sunglasses and his new hat, I lost a bass and sunglasses in Korea. Now it‘s Naru‘s turn. I‘m looking forward to it.
Is there a style in the cafes, bars or restaurants you like to visit? Also please tell us what you mainly order.
Park Sol: I like to drink Bourbon Whisky straight without any ice. I prefer bars that are mainly quiet and where there aren‘t many people.
Naru: Cafe in Planet. The space is nice and the drinks taste good too. I‘m satisfied with whatever I order.
Han Sol: I‘m uncomfortable with places that are too clean. I like places that feel like it’s covered to a certain degree with finger prints.
Oh Kyung: I like Ramen. I find Iced Strawberry Latte tasty. Beer I like OB*, Soju I don‘t care to choose. For Snacks it‘s corn chips and Diget.

What is the top item on your current shopping wishlist?
Park Sol: A MacBook.
Naru: Lately I want to buy a classic guitar. When I want to create something sensitive...
Han Sol: A camping chair and sunglasses.

Out of the things at your home, what is the most precious ‚object‘ you can‘t give up on?
Park Sol: I don‘t really value objects... I don‘t really have one.
Naru: My computer. There are a lot of important memories and works on it.

Park Sol: I want to got to Miami again. If Japan, I‘d like to go to Tokyo or Osaka. It‘s a great pity, since we always went there to perform, I couldn‘t enjoy it properly because of the tight schedule.
Naru: I want to do a bicycle tour. I want to test myself and at the same time also clear my thoughts.
Han Sol: I want to go on journey alone. To South-East Asia.
Oh Kyung: I want to go to Jeju Island. I just want to idle my time away there. I want to eat properly, read a book properly, and all that. I‘m a person who wants to live such a life.
What is your goal or wish for this year?
Park Sol: I think about trying to release some solo songs this year (and within next year), I also have the desire to challenge an overseas tour again while working hard on the activities for the Solutions EP ‚No Problem‘.
Naru: Writing a lot of songs while performing as a band. Meeting a lot of people personally, going on air(?) as a composer, and an acustic performance.
Han Sol: A better person than last year. And a better drummer.
Oh Kyung: I want to become famous. Meaning that I want a lot of people to listen to our music.
