I'm not having a lot time, a friend is promising me cupcakes. chocolate cupcakes *_* I will edit it later.

Just two things:

- Translator is heavily biased.
- Translator is desperate because yesasia fails in sending her stuff properly(I NEED MY COPY!!!), so she's listening to 'Talk, Dance, Party for Love', 'Sounds of the Universe' and 'Lines' in endless repeat.
- Usual grammar errors, mistakes and english fail.

.... which are three. hun.

The Solutions - The band that will receive the most attention in the last half of this year

From 90’s Britpop to American Alternative, and even 21st century style Japanese popular music, the modern rock band with multinational tastes that ranges over them all, The Solutions! Also Bugs exclaimed automatically after listening to their music “Oh! This is really something!” The modern rock full of feel and rhythm that was hard to find for some time, it seems The Solutions can complete it.

‘The Solutions’ is a unique but classic name. What does it mean?
There were a lot of team name candidates and suggestions, but we both couldn’t make up our minds and were worrying. At the point when we wanted to have a somewhat challenging and provocative name, Naru suggested the name ‘The Solutions’ and I also thought it wasn’t bad. We’d like you to see it as a confident expression that ‘we are the solution’. If you write it in hangeul it also means that our names, Park Sol (‘Sol’utions) and Naru (Sol’ru’tions), are in there.

*The Solutions=솔(Sol)루(ru)션스; if you need more help on that just ask :')

Reflecting on your solo activities, two people with extreme tendencies have met. What was the opportunity to form the band?
We met the first time through the Mintpaper Project ‘Support Your Music’ (SYM). One day when the SYM project was finished, we drank beer together and talked about our dreams. At that place we got to know for the first time that Naru had the ambition to become a band master as the guitarist of the band and I wanted to take the role of a front man as the vocalist. And the ‘So should we have a band together’ we exchanged like jokes became now the start of The Solutions.

It feels like listening to clear Pop music. If you would have to describe the album?
It can be seen as an album where we re-interpreted the British-American music of the 90’s~2000’s that influenced us two the most in our own way. The strong point of the music back then I think of is, of course there’s also the elegant melody and chord-work, but more than anything I think it’s a unique kind of ‘temperament’ that doesn’t exist in the exciting sounds of today. Working on it being aware of those things purposefully with the desire to take over that temperament, and removing eastern elements, I also think we made a more or less Pop-ish album. We’re having rock music focused on vocal and guitar-riff as the base, but the rhythm is rather danceable than simple. It is filled with songs captured while we both played guitar and sang and worked freely in the recording studio.

The main part of the lyrics are English. The reason for sticking to English?
At first we didn’t think about that, but after all if you want to keep the feeling of the Pop-ish song alive, it seems English lyrics would fit better than Korean, so while we were working on it, we got to make almost all the songs in English at the end. Additionally, the English lyrics have the advantage to be able to leave more room for more various interpretations than Korean lyrics. As much as the lyrics are in English, even if it is difficult at the first listen, it’d be nice if the feelings they convey are delivered well with a good vigor.

If you would have to introduce the title song ‘Lines’?
It’s a song filled with stories about bonds between people. The lyrics are written out of the thought that human destiny itself are after all the processes of two people who each were running on parallel lines, meeting through an accident and becoming a huge meaning for each other. We wanted to express the several strong emotions that come up every time with that feeling, the vague uneasiness, the worry, the overwhelming etc. Also the music itself, the simple, calm rhythm is repeated absentmindedly, but above that several elements blow violently and then get calm etc; we put a lot effort into expressing the passionate feelings. It was made adding Park Sol’s refrain melody over the repeating chord Naru made. The song that can explain the meaning of the whole album? I wonder if ‘Lines’ isn’t right away that song.

Do you have senior musicians you respect? If you’d recommend a song each?
(Park Sol) There are too many, it is too difficult to recommend just one, but the song I’m suddenly thinking of is Radiohead’s ‘Just’. Thom Yorke’s chic vocal and melody line, the recording session that’s embedded perfectly in the live, the PV that is kitsch but conveying the message strongly, is especially impressive.
(Naru) I like a lot of musicians, but I saw the performance of New Order who performed on a recent Festival and I got to listen to their music a lot once more after my school days. I had a lot of thoughts when I saw the performance where I felt the dignity and novelty at the same time, and saw the image of the leader Bernard Sumner, who is even older than my father, singing and playing guitar relentlessly with that unique, clear voice. I also want to recommend New Order’s song ‘Turn My Way’ in which the musician Billy Corgan, whom I hugely like, features.

There isn’t much left until your concert. Please introduce it briefly and explain what to look out for.
Our first concert is at the ‘Olympic Music Live’ September 23rd. We’re thinking of taking ‘complete revival of the album’ as our goal, but we’re also worrying a lot about not being careless with surprises and show-like elements that are only possible at a concert place. We’re preparing well to convey the feel of a live to the audience rather than the emotions put into the album, so we hope you look forward to it and a lot of you will come.
