I started writing this from Dubai two nights ago, so don't mind the time lapses etc...

I started my trip last night, at 5 pm or so. The flight from home to Dubai was awesome. Good on-board entertainement, good food, no turbulence. Basically, it was heaven. I got out at Dubai, went to the visa people to get my visa and went through customs. All that in like 5 minutes, which rocked. But, then, I got out, and surprise: no one was there to pick me up. So, I called up the hotel and asked them wtf was going on, and they told me they'd send someone and to wait. Which I did. For a long while. Finally, someone came around and we went to the hotel.
In the morning, I woke up and decided to go for a walk, and what I saw was exactly what I pictured. Flaunting money. Big ostentatious cars, huge buildings, very clean streets. A sort of paradise on earth, except for the heat, which made things horrible. I swear, it was insane, I kept sweating like a pig, kept wiping my forehead dry with a tissue. Eugh.
At night, I got ready to go. The second part of the trip was from dubai to India, which was a 4 hour flight. I tried getting into the duty free shop there, but I sadly couldn't. The Dubai airport is way too big, so, when I checked out the line of people waiting to pay for their stuff, I just left and went to the departure gate, just as the final call was given.
Now, this flight wasn't as awesome as the first. I asked one of the stewardesses (spe?) if they had booze and cigarettes on board to buy, and she said they didn't. Booo!
I got to India early in the morning (about 7:50 am local time), got through customs without a hitch, got some stuff from their small duty free shop and went outside. I waited for a pretty long time when my ride finally came to get me. I was ushered into a very nice car, and off we went.
I was shown into the appartement I was going to share, and found it to be very nice. I went for a nap immediately afterwards, and when I woke up, the girl had gone back to work (which is downstairs! awesome!).
I was completely alone for the first time, and that's when I panicked. I got freakin' scared shitless. This is the first time I've been away from my family in a different country, and getting freaked out is to be expected.
After work, the girl came back and we went out for dinner. Which turned into an hour walk through the busy streets.
Indian drivers are the worst drivers ever. Really.
Anyways, I've gone down to the office tonight, and I've checked out some stuff, chatted a bit to foreigners working there, and it all seems to have appeased my inner nervousness. I've calmed down lots, and I'm just going to take it one day at a time and see how it goes.

india, work, trip
