a closet romantic
here are some cheesy songs i've been listening to this week:
- come down to me - dude, this is so girl likes popular boy and yearns for him kind of track. :> OH, UNREQUITED LOVE. please, if i were crushing on someone, i won't be just "watching him shine". i'd be snarling to the other Potentials he's mine HE'S MINE! who wants to share? that's INSANE. i'm a possessive, jealous and selfish individual. oddly enough, the girl--okay, singer--wishes that her object of affection won't get arrogant or won't get popularity fill his head up. i think that's kind of funny. i've yet to meet a person who's popular--and it's not the i'm-prom-king/queen kind of popular, mind you--and humble at the same time.
- wherever you will go - i think this was popular last year? well, well-known anyway. this song is really good 'cos it's like, the singer's wondering what will happen to his OoA (Object of Affection! <3) if he's gone or if they break up. um, so my perspective's screwed, whatever. (ignore the fact that i SUCK ass at analyzing stuff.) anyway, this song is ROMANTIC. but the "when I'm gone you'll need love to light the shadows on your face" line? um, i'm sure your OoA will get over you someday. i don't believe in loving just one person, and if there's such a thing out there--it exists; look at my parents and my aunt and her husband--well, that's good. but my point is it doesn't apply to everyone. like, before you met The One, you probably dated other people and you loved them at some point. but you didn't love them the same, if that makes sense. anyway, the singer sounds a bit HAH YOU'LL NEVER FIND LOVE AGAIN to his OoA when he sung that particular line and seriously, i rolled my eyes. sure, OoA will never be loved like the singer loved her, but she'll most likely find love again. um. this song is still ROMANTIC, though it sounds a bit stalker-ish now that i think about it. i still like this one, though! like a lot.
- emergency - this one reminds me of kelly clarkson's songs, only clarkson's are (mostly) about REVENGE AND OMG ANGER. (i like kelly clarkson, so please don't get any wrong ideas. haha.) kidding. but the beat of this song DOES remind me of clarkson's. it's intense and sometimes sharp on the edges. anyway, this song is basically about the singer complaining to her OoA that they're not on the same wavelength ('cos OoA is a wee bit fucked up) and if they don't fix it, they have to part ways which, hello, she doesn't want so fixing their problem asap is an emergency! the singer loves her OoA THAT much, it seems, and that's sweet. *G*
- owl eyes - i like this one loads; to me the song is somewhat like this: "the world really HATES me. D: D': D:" "OH then why don't we go to a NeverNeverLand-like world so we can hide from our problems and pretend they never existed?" "thats a BRILLIANT idea!!"
and awww, the song just melts on your skin. the singer's voice particularly slides on your tongue like chocolate. AND CHOCOLATE IS LOVE, YO. :> - umbrella (cover!) - aw, okay, i immensely like simon for singing this song. it's BEST FRIENDS FOREVERS indeed. haha additionally, the song sounds positive and awesome and it's about friendship, you guys! at least it's not self-centered, ie Jlo's jenny from the block.
- last night on earth - this is possibly the cheesiest song out of the ones i shared with you today. you can never have enough cheesiness, though! and man, this song is epic (like HARRY POTTER!) and dramatic (like harry potta!). you can not NOT love it, you know? :p i've unashamedly put this one on repeat, too, and believe me my heart SWOONS from its awesomeness. and dude, if i were in a relationship i'd totally include this cheese--um, song--on my For My Lover List. (the "i'm gonna love you until the day i die" line is gonna be a COMPLETE LIE, though.)
- be still - bwahahahaha kelly clarkson! this is perfect for slow dancing, and this is such a lovely song; the singer and the OoA are gonna split if OoA doesn't compromise with the singer, so the singer's saying "please, we can work this out, you just have to try." she's sort of pleading, but she really isn't, and so i feel SORRY for the singer; i wanna cheer her on and whack her OoA with a sword and say "you're an idiot" ad infinitum.
