A year ago
Almost to the day I was having a lot of problems at work and ended up taking essentially a month off due to stress. I can't believe how quickly a year has gone. I also had a 48 hour ECG tape and will have to have another in the next few weeks. I went to the doctors last night as a result of the funny turn I had on Monday in the wee hours. They basically want to discount the possibility it was tachycardia rather than a panic attack or some other issue I have, so I am going for a blood test on Wednesday morning and then I will be informed when I need to go to Treliske for the 48 hour tape. I say tape, last time the actual device was about the size of an iPod. I tried to explain that I'd been under some pressure at work (self inflicted admittedly) which had gone by monday as I had things sorted, I had been drinking more than was good for me and also too much coffe, but unfortunately the medical profession always want quantifiables, facts, and I didn't really feel I was ebing listened to. In all fairness they only have about 15 minutes with you as it was a general surgery though.
Anway, I am going to town tomorrow to do a bit of Christmas shopping and to buy some pheasants for dinner tomorrow night. We looked at a couple of meal ideas in our recipie books last night. Sunday its roast duck. Unfortunately its one from sommerfield so is probably intensively reared. Will get the pheasant from the indoor market in Truro as they are a licensed game dealer. Last time I had pheasant was my birthday and we went to an excellent local pub-restaurant in Kent near my parents. I made the mistake of approaching the bird from the chest and got a mouthful of lead shot...
I will also be popping in Threshers to get some Scotch for the father-in-law and a malt for myself. The missus got some very nice port in somerfield yesterday - they had 2 bottles for £10.00. Will also get cards from the Cats Protection League shop, and more beads from the bead shop. The missus wants me to make her a beaded jewellery roll so its best beading trousers on!
Wednesday I ordered some stuff on Amazon speacial delivery, and only 1 thing arrived yesterday, the rest is being dispatched separately, though it was listed as being in stock at the time. If I'd known this would happen I would have got the stuff from Play.com as they do free delivery, or done a supersaver delivery. And what made me annoyed is that our idle f***wit of a postman signs for the special delivery items at the Post Office before putting them through the door. No christmas money for him this year! I thought the point of signed-for was the recipient had to sign it? Yet if we complain our post will probably end up in the stream at the bottom of our garden - the postman walks down the footpath that runs alongside it to get to the other houses along our road.
Fancy popping down the pub when I get off the bus tonight - the bus stop is next to it! Lived in Chacewater for 2 years and only been in there once, changed hands a couple of times but it looks rather nice in there now.
