[Masterpost/index] My J-Drama List (PART 2)!

Jul 26, 2012 12:53

Finally I found a day where I really can't do anything but watch J-dramas XD;;
So now I'll continue from where I left off in this post: [Masterpost/index] My J-Drama List :D

Nobuta wo Produce
This was one of those dramas I was addicted to because each episode was really good. Some made me cry so much that it made me feel even more closer to the characters. For me, this kind of reaction means that the actors did such a good job portraying their characters. Though you may come across this drama as a Yamapi hater, you'll probably find this refreshing. Of all characters Yamapi has ever acted as, this one was by far his best. The bond between these three is very odd but beautiful. Watch as Kame tries his best to "produce" Horikita Maki so she can bring out the beauty hiding within her and learn to love herself for who she is, not what she appears to be (-a creepy emo girl). If you liked Yamato Nadeshiko Shichi Henge, then you'll love this drama as well. (Man, that was a long review) xD

Papa to Musume no Nanokakan
This was a spontaneous find for me while typing "Papa" on Dramacrazy. This drama is about the loose and almost broken bound between a father and a daughter. Very much like "Freaky Friday", the two switch bodies. But because of this switch, the once cold-shouldered relationship they had began to mend as they cared not only for their own lives, but also for each other. This drama is very funny and heart-warming. One of the most important lesson I learned about life was discovered here. :3 This is an underrated drama that should not be overlooked. I didn't like Aragaki Yui at first until I watched this drama.

Papa wa Idol
This drama is something I recommend for ANY JOHNNY'S OR IDOL FAN. seriously. Loads of crack and awesome cameos from people you'll know and references you'll love and recognize. Follow the portrayed life of a rising Johnny's idol, Kanjani8's  Nishikido Ryo who meets the woman he wants to marry. But idols aren't allowed to marry because of the Jumisho's (Company) fear of losing investment of future activities as an idol. I've always wondered as a JE fangirl why there are so many Johnny idols that are not married! Though this drama doesn't explain that question, it definitely does explore the hardships and perks of being an idol. Yes, some moments are very cheesy and others are random yet pure genius. But I still think this is a new kind of drama that's not in anyway similar to Hannah Montana (or maybe it is... I don't' know). SO ALL OF YOU IDOL FANS, SET EVERYTHING ASIDE AND WATCH THIS DRAMA. ( I seem more enthusiastic in this post than in my last one xD;;)

Shinya Shokudo: Season 1 and 2
Here's where my passion for FOOD comes in. This drama is really a nice show to watch after a long hard ay of work (or to just kill time or make yourself feel better than crap). You will like this drama- guaranteed. Because of it’s simplicity, food and splendid characters, you’ll be satisfied watching the customers and the chef of the late night diner, even if the episode is only 30 minutes long. The epsidoes are short and simple, yet still filled with beauty and meaning, leaving you lingering to think about your life for a minute or two. Out of every episode, there is a moral taught, food cooking, customers gossiping, and customers eating. What I love most about this drama is the portrayal of how characters, everyday people like yourself, deal with what life hits them with. It's a drama that's a bit more fullfilling than Lunch Queen in my opinion.

Shokojo Seira (Princess Sara)
Ever read the classic story, A Little Princes by Frances Hodgson Burnett? Well, you don't need to to watch this drama. But if you did, of course the book is much better. HOWEVER, I did enjoy watching this drama because of the impossible story line/plot. Though questions like, "Where is Child Services?" will pop out when watching this, perhaps you can get through watching this to see how the Japanese director of this drama portrayed and ended this classical story. I honestly think this was one of the most seemingly-fake dramas I've ever watched, but Shida Mirai tried her flawless-best to act as Sara Crewe. Watch this drama at your own risk xD;;;; But honestly, I thought one of the episodes got me thinking about how I shouldn't act like I know everything and think what I believe is right.

A Little Princess (1995 Warner Bros. Movie)
IF for any reason you tried the first episode of Shokojo Seira and thought it was a waste of time, then I HIGHLY suggest you watch this underrated American movie adaption of A Little Princess by Warner Brothers Entertainment. I love this movie because of the setting and the wonderful cast. The clothes, the detail of the set and the acting are very harmonious. I fell asleep while trying to watch Shirley Temple's version of A Little Princess (but I still do like S.T.). I feel this was the best film adaption of this story. Though some details were changed here and there, it was beautifully delivered and one of America's hidden film treasures. I hope this also reaffirms my reputation and an amature-film critic. Now back to Japanese Dramas!

Switch Girl
I honestly think this is a drama that should be watched to kill time (aka. not one that is worth your time). Its is hilarious and different in production, but I feel that the actress chosen to play the main character was rather difficult to like. It seemed as though she didn't fit the manga-styled dramas. In my honest opinion, Shokojo Seira was worth more time than Switch Girl. Switch Girl seemed to fall flat at the end of the drama. The main actress was the problem for me in this drama because she seemed to over exaggerate her character too much (unlike Shida Mirai's performance in Shokojo Seira). But all in all, if you enjoy Manga-style dramas (like Kisarazu Cats Eye, 11 nin mo iru, Hanazakari no Kimitachie: Ikemen Paradise, and Gokudo no Sensei), then I guess this is the one for you. I wouldn't give this a second watch though. Not my cup of tea. Honestly, the co-star was the only one who urged me to complete this drama.

The Guest of Room Zero
I forgot how I came across this drama, but it began my love for short-yet-simple-slices-of-life dramas. Every other episode revolves around one pair who checks into a room that is said to give a rate of a person as a human out of 100 (100/100, being the perfect human being). With the creepy theme, this is a rather wonderful drama. It makes you think about yourself and question your own worth as a human as well. If you enjoyed Shinya Shokudo and like Johnnys, then this drama is for you. :3

Tokyo Dogs
Mmmm. This one is difficult to talk about. Not because it was unlike able, it is because I don't remember anything from the drama at all. I would re-watch it, but I don't remember liking it in the first place that much. But funny enough, it was the first Japanese drama I watched with my sister. If the pair of Oguri Shun and Mizushima Hiro intriges you, then I guess it is worth watching because they always fight like a couple would argue about small things all the time as they search for the man who killed Oguri Shun character's father - Jino (its rather cute and funny xD). All I could really remember liking is the ending with them running in rain as EXILE's song Futatsu no Kuchibiru. Haha.

W no Higeki
This was a very interesting and thrilling drama for me. When it first came out, I was excited because it was a longtime since I watched one like this. The ending was rather satisfactory too. Its a mystery/thriller/romance drama like Tokyo Dogs, but very different in plot. The main actress delivered her two seperate roles as twins very brilliantly that it sends chills down my spine still. This drama revolves around the two different lives of people who look alike and decide to switch lives. As they both live as each other, they learn more about themselves than they realize.

Yamada Taro Monogatari
Sorry, THIS was the first drama I ever watched with my sister. xD
Now I remembered watching this one fairly well. The drama was worth watching, even without knowing who Arashi was because I didn't know them when I first watched this. But what got me to like this drama was the opening song more than anything. The drama itself was full of crack, so I guess its worth watching, Arashi fan or not. :3 I'm rating this a 4 out of 5 without any bias whatsoever. If you want to see a poor highschooler who would do anything (such as disguse as a maid for a rich boy to earn quick cash) to feel his siblings, then this is the drama for you :3

Yamato Nadeshiko Shichi Henge
Yes! Another Manga-styled drama I enjoyed! This one is very much like Nobuta wo Produce. Kamenashi from Kat-tun, Tegoshi from NEWS,  Uchi Hiroki from News, and Miyao Shuntaro all try to change the newly discovered actress Oomasa Aya's character (Sunako) into the perfect Japanese girl. Though I know some people prefer the manga and anime, I think this was well done to the point where people who didn't read or watch it before can all enjoy it. The cast is well made and the story was good too. If you want to see Kame finally cut his long hair, then watch this drama! :DDDDD lol. Filled of randomness, like all manga-based dramas are.

Yankee-kun to Megane Chan
ANOTHER MANGA-BASED DRAMA. This one is really wonderful :D I love school centered dramas like this one ^^* Hammer session and Gokudo no Sensei are really good btw. The main pair played by Narimiya Hirkoi and Naka Riisa is perfect! I think they both fit the roles well because I read a bit of the manga before :D The cast is splendid and the timing of crack and jokes are always perfect. WAY BETTER THAN SWITCH GIRL. Seriously, WATCH THIS. Ending song is really nice too :D

And that's the end of this post! We ended on a good note I have to say. :D
I still have more dramas to talk about and more movies to rate!
But that's for another day ^^* See you guys soon!
