Can I just say that one of the best things about living in this particular time in history is: instantly downloadable music.
It's the best thing since the fuckin' Model T.
I kept hearing the new 50 cent song on the radio--Love it or Hate It. You can really tell that there are some talented producers over there at Shady, Inc.
I love that shit!
So I downloaded it, and also Massive Attack's "Teardrop" -- the theme song from the TV show "House".
And THEN the time finally came for me to iPod the car. I didn't feel like dropping the 350.00 and an ENTIRE day over at BMW, so I decided to research some alternatives.
The iTrip was definitely out....almost everyone says it boderline sucks. And I'm one of those people that can't enjoy my music at all if it's cutting in and out.
So I thought, are there any other devices similar to the iTrip but better (i.e. they will broadcast your iPod over an FM frequency so you can hear it on your car stereo).
Turns out the PodFreq works very well
http://www.podfreq.com/ It looks dorky as hell, and it's a tiny bit awkward as there isn't really anyplace to put it but on the seat next to you, and there's a 4 inch antennae sticking out of it, but FUCK the thing works!
Sound quite good, but I would hesitate to say "very good". I'm fairly happy with it. It's 100 bucks, so that was more what I was willing to spend anyway.
Also cool: you could play your iPod in a rental car, if you went to another city...so that's kind of cool, too, vs. getting it integrated into your car.
Tommorrow is my first official day of unemployment...I'm looking for a job again, as all the shows are finished at last gig. And when I say all the shows are finished, I mean it.
They have absolutely nothing right now, because the top brass over there really pissed off all their clients because I'm fairly certain he's a moron of the highest caliber.
That job sure was great for me, though. I can cut on pretty much anything, now, which is really empowering. And, I'm as comfortable on a PC as I was on a Mac which is also nice.
I have an interview on Monday, but I doubt I'll take it. They seem totally focused on TV commercials in a Saatchi and Saatchi kind of way, and I would have to start as an assitant, which I'm also not crazy about. But what the hell?!! I have nothing to do on Monday, so I'll get dressed up and go see these people.
They cut that BMW commercial where the 4 angels are flying by each of the 4 wheels and updating one another via walkie-talkie about tire-specific road conditions and adjustments. It's a bitchin' commercial.
I think I would like to end up on a TV show or at a trailer house.
I would probably prefer the Trailer house, because I think that's an art form I can really nail, and I like the emphasis on cutting music as opposed to cutting story.
I feel really pent up and nervous inside. I have a lot more bills now then when jobs have abruptly ended in the past, so it's a bit different situation.
However, I'm also a lot more skilled, so it sort of balances out.
Still, I don't feel so hot. I really don't
I think I'm gonna go away for a few days to Arizona, or Yosemite or something like that and sort of reset myself.
Wells Fargo approved me for a 6000.00 loan...jesus my credit really got a lot better. I couldn't have gotten a loan for a tricycle a few years ago.
I've got to get that computer and Avid software...that's why I applied for it.
You would think that nothing would be bothering me.
Well, it's probably just opening jitters.
