If I may be so bold, I would like to offer some Unsolicited Advice (tm). If I am overstepping myself here in any way, please tell me to shove off.

Job-wise, you are more likely to get a job that you can make a career out of if you already have a job. It sounds backwards, but it's worked for EAR, and sarahke. They both had crap-ass jobs and were able to trade up. EAR was working at a Shopper's Drug Mart for a year before he got a job in his field. If you haven't already - try the local grocery store, pharmacy, Timmies. Be a stock person or a dish washer. It will solve the immediate money issue as well as demonstrate your willingness to work (which I know from experience you have in spades).

Now to address your other points:
1) Your undertunic should be white. Black wasn't used until late peroid and even then, not for underwear.
If you have two tunics, three undertunics and a couple pairs of pants, you'll be laughing. You don't need clothes for sleeping in - whatever you sleep in now will be just fine.

Since you are trying for early peroid, braes and hose are not requried. They showed up in the 12th-ish cent. and evolved from there. You want *PANTS*, doesn't that make you feel better? All the usual suspects are knowledgeable in the making of pants.

It wasn't clear from your post if you know, but FC pewters will sell you a whole belt. Google it, you can check out the website.

2) talk to the guys about aquiring rattan and sheild blanks (etc) they have a little black market going on...

3) What do you want to make your pouch out of? You are also welcome to use my machines, if that is easier.

Check out Value Village too, I got a number of my feast items there.

Re your job advice: I'll definitely take the idea under advisement, considering I would like to just get back to working again. *Plus I know there's a Loeb and a Food Basics right by my house I can check to see if they're hiring*

Pants, yes you are right. God how'd I get mixed up with Pants Brae's and Hose?

As for the Undertunic being white, that's cool :) I just know at some point though I would like to make a black shirt which was of reasonably period style even if I have to go later. *though that's not a higher priority

Re: the Rattan sheild blanks and such, I'll be definitely hitting that avenue once I've gotten some of my other stuff under the belt *so to speak*..

.. And that is correct about belts and FC Pewters *facepalms* .. I'll need to get some money and give them some business it seems.

Regarding the pouch: Thank you for the offer of access to your sewing equipment, It'd definitely help in the process of making the pouch or any other stuff. I was thinking of making a cloth pouch first, or two, or three and then slowly working my way up beyond as I get better at working with cloth.
