The white protagonist is an ongoing character in the game series.
To suggest an evil corporation (run by white people) would use a poor part of Africa to illegally test a virus/drug/etc on, is not only plausible it is something that has happened before.
That this plot would not be discovered and opposed by say poorly educated african villager the virus is being tested on, but rather the ongoing protagonist who has been dealing with the Umbrella corp for a decade and has specialist combat training is also far more plausible.
As for the scene which seem to be causing a stir. Ie the white woman being metaphorically raped by the savage black people: well if you think an attractive white woman could stroll around the poorer parts of Africa without being molested in some way, I have a bridge to sell you. Also when that scene occurs the Africans are infected with the zombie virus, so if it pleases your naivety more you can assume she had lived and travelled around Africa alone for many years and was well treated and politely greeted by all the groups of people she met and the attack is thus even more unexpected and savage and just goes to emphasis how evil this virus and the white run Umbrella corporation are.
