I wrote the following in response to a description of a cut scene in RE5. The following is cut because I know some people (myself among them) have to be in the right frame of mind to read things that might upset them. My comment on racism in RE5 and a link to the relevant post in debunkingwhite. I would have posted it on there but I haven't got round to getting authorised to post/comment yet.

Hmm, it's not the sort of game I'm interested in so I hadn't been paying close attention to it. When I first heard about the racism I thought "Well, it's understandable having primarily black characters and virus victims but having a white man being the main charater hunting them is annoying." Still I thought that being as the majority of video game heroes are white men I shouldn't be surprised.
I didn't however realise that it had scenes like that. Ones that are so blatantly bad and just horrible. I'm speachless. Setting it in africa and having african zombies are one thing, making it so that a white person you see is 'good' unless brought down by 'bad' african zombies is another thing entirely. Ick. And I thought I was annoyed at the stereotyping in GTA 4.
