What feminism means

I feel a strong urge to call out on hypocritical behavior. As we all move into the “woke” era many want to be woke about many injustices and inequalities they see.

I pride myself on being a feminist but here’s the letter to all boys and girls:

1) Feminism does not merely mean giving women opportunities. Feminism means giving everyone equal opportunities regardless of gender

I have witnessed people perpetuating their own misconception of feminism too many times. Here are some anecdotes, ranging from the more casual bimbotic comments to firm wide policies that really run deep.

a) “Of course, you should buy us drinks and pay for our meal because I’m a girl” men and women are both equally capable of paying their own meals, especially in the context of a group. Why should men always pay? An argument for the split of expenses between partners is another topic altogether with different definitions and dynamics - to which, I believe in taking turns to pick up the bills but when it comes to peers and asking men to pick up the tabs?

b) “I like having male bosses because they cannot tell me what’s an appropriate or inappropriate attire in the office.” In this case, very obviously, one already knows that her attire is inappropriate and that a female boss would have told her that because a female boss is gender neutral when commenting on someone of her own kind. But when faced against a male, she’s able to leverage the whole “woke culture” to defy rules

C) to be continued
