It was Monday morning when Jinki refused to get out of his bed even if Taemin had already tried to wake him up several times. Good thing he had locked the door before he went to sleep yesterday night because everytime he forgot to do so, Taemin always woke him up with the lights turned on and it irritated him. So he thought that this morning, he would block his ears from Taemin’s voice and sleep more. As much as he loved to go to work, he hated waking up early in the morning so much.
“Hyung! Wake up! Do you want to late for work, eh? Hyung!”
Taemin kept on knocking the door, shouting that he wouldn't let Jinki eat chicken if he still carried on sleeping but it didn’t make Jinki move a single inch. Jinki really wanted to sleep; last night he stayed up so late because he was inspired to write and wouldn't waste the opportunity by sleeping. But apparently, he really needed to wake up because soon after Taemin gave up on knocking the door, his cellphone began to ring. Jinki grunted and pulled his phone out which was under the pillow and peeked at the screen. He frowned when he got a message from numbers that he didn’t recognize, but then he sat up straight on his bed after reading the message.
It was from Jonghyun, saying that he would come and break the door of his room if he didn't want to wake up. Jinki tilted his head in confusion and stared at the door blankly, as if he was waiting for Jonghyun to really break the door and wake him up.
“Jinki, if you don’t get up right now I will really break this door~”
He could feel someone was singing out there and when the person started to countdown from three, he quickly jumped out of his bed, shouting, “DON’T!” and opened the door, revealing a grinning Jonghyun, laughing Key and Taemin. Jinki blinked once, and twice, before letting his brain processed what happened before his eyes.
“Good morning, Jinki,” Jonghyun smiled widely and he outstretched his hand to touch Jinki’s hair and fix it a little. Jinki backed away from Jonghyun’s touch, “Eh-why are you all here?” he asked in confusion, his eyes shifting to Jonghyun’s and Key’s.
The diva shook his head, grinning, and took the sandwich that Taemin had prepared for them to stuff it into his mouth, while Jonghyun walked back to take a seat beside his best-friend.
“Taemin texted me, complaining about you and asked me for help to wake you up,” Kibum said and shook his head while eyeing Jinki from head to toes. “You should take a bath now, hyung. You are going to be late,” Kibum continued while Taemin stuck his tongue out at Jinki.
The oldest felt his face reddened when Jonghyun said, “But you still look good in your pajamas,” and stumbled on his feet when running quickly to the bathroom. Jonghyun chuckled, eyes never leaving Jinki’s figure until the guy was completely gone from his sight. The smile didn’t disappear from his face as he ate the sandwich Taemin made for him and the smile grew even wider. He lifted his head and looked at Taemin in the eyes, “Wah Taemin, this is the most delicious sandwich I've ever eaten in my whole life!”
Taemin, who was sitting in front of Jonghyun was shocked at first when he heard that but later he felt his cheeks getting hot, “Kibum-hyung taught me,” he said sheepishly and Jonghyun turned his head to his bestfriend. The diva gave him a smug look and Jonghyun laughed while pinching Kibum’s cheek, “I should’ve known.
"He's really amazing!"
The youngest took a glance at Kibum and frowned when he saw Kibum, the almighty Kibum, trying hard not to smile but in the end he still did and kicked Jonghyun’s leg. Taemin thought that it was weird, Kibum never acted like that before with anyone. But then again, it seemed like Kibum've always acted different with Jonghyun, after all Jonghyun was his best best best friend, Taemin thought and shrugged it away.
Fifteen minutes later Onew was ready and joined them in the kitchen. It felt kind of weird for Onew to suddenly had a noisy morning with a lot of people inside his apartment. It had never happened before since Onew moved into this apartment with Minho. True, Kibum always visited him after he broke up with Minho but the atmosphere was never been this-cheerful. Laughter everywhere, smiling faces, stupid comments and breakfast that tasted a hundred times better.
“Jinki,” Jonghyun snapped his fingers in front of Jinki’s face and he blinked several times. He didn’t realize that he had been zooning out since he joined them. Jonghyun looked at him with his gorgeous smile- 'Did.. Did I just think that he has a gorgeous smile?’ Jinki cursed at himself- and he felt the air around him was becoming much much warmer.
“You better eat your breakfast now if you don’t want to be late,” Jonghyun grinned while looking at the wall clock hanging in the kitchen. Jinki's eyes followed Jonghyun’s and he almost choked on nothing when he saw the time. “Shit, it’s already this late?” He commented and quickly stuffed the sandwich inside his mouth. The others -except for Taemin- looked at him with so much amusement on their expressions while the youngest kept nagging Jinki, telling him that tomorrow he wouldn’t wake him up and he wouldn’t make him breakfast if history ever repeated itself.
Jinki chose to ignore Taemin and focused more on his breakfast because he knew that Taemin loved him too much to have him starving in the morning.
Finally the four of them were ready to start the day. Jonghyun insisted that they need to gather like this again for dinner which Key declined, saying that it’s just Jonghyun’s excuses to be with Jinki and Jonghyun didn’t even try to deny it. Taemin agreed with the same motive as Jonghyun which he didn’t say to his hyungs and Jinki declined too, saying that he had to go to school after work and would not be home until it was very late.
The result was - they exited the apartment lot with many expressions. Key had his arms around Jinki’s shoulders to tell him about ignoring the puppy while Taemin was patting Jonghyun’s back because the said puppy was putting on a very sad expression in his face, mumbling repetitively that he was lonely because he had to eat dinner alone. Kibum snorted at this.
“You always eat your dinner alone with your beloved Roo before but you have never complained, how come now you are suddenly so upset at the usual routine, eh Kim Dino Jonghyun?”
“Roo?” Taemin asked.
Kibum smiled at him, “His puppy.”
“You have a puppy?” They could almost see Taemin bouncing while walking to the bus stop and Jinki remembered that Taemin always had a weak spot for dogs or puppies. Jonghyun nodded and started telling him about his puppy and Taemin asked for Jinki’s permission to go to Jonghyun’s place tonight to see the puppy.
“No Taemin, you can’t! He’s dangerous!” Key pretended to shriek and Jonghyun pouted. “Yah! I won’t do anything to Taemin! I won’t betray my love for Jinki,” He said innocently and smug at Jinki whose eyes widened twice, but somehow the words pierced Taemin’s heart and he grimaced.
“Just, not tonight. Taemin has a dance practice right? You can go to Jonghyun’s place when you don’t have dance practice ," Onew said and ruffled his brother’s hair. Taemin smiled at him and mouthed 'thank you', Jonghyun looked so happy and Key was smiling too. Somehow, Jinki trusted Jonghyun. After all Jonghyun was Kibum’s best friend, so it meant that Jonghyun was a good guy.
They arrived at the bus stop and they decided to part there. But before they head to different directions, Jinki called Jonghyun.
“If.. If you want to have a breakfast at my place, you can come tomorrow morning. You too Kibum,” Jinki smiled.
