OOC: Set in

Sandy watched through the window as they drove down the highway heading west, towards Seattle-or what was Seattle, and was now Eden. In fact, she was probably going to call it Seattle until the day she died, regardless of the fact that it wasn’t it’s name anymore.
“Probably would have been faster if we flew.”
“Probably,” Eddie said with a smirk. “But in order to do that we would have had to have have fuel to power said planes.”
“Shut up,” she said, but it didn’t have the usual ‘umph’ she put into it. There was no annoyed tone in her voice, and the usual accompanying smack on the shoulder. She just sat there, not having the energy to be anything more than a lump in the seat next to him. A very cold lump, but a lump nonetheless. She knew he was going to be worried about her, but he had been worried since everything went down, so that doesn’t really surprise her.
She didn’t turn back to see if he was looking at her, but she knew that he was. She waited until he spoke up to say anything about it, not wanting to interrupt his thought process.
“What’s on your mind?” he asked slowly.
“I-I miss Henry,” she said slowly.
“I know,” he nodded. “But-can’t save everyone.”
“I know. I don’t blame you. I just-miss him. I miss everyone, really. All my friends-”
“I know,” he said softly. His voice dropped off, and Sandy continued to look out the window for a moment, before shifting in her seat, and facing the seat in front of her.
“Is this really worth it?”
“Is what really worth it?” Eddie asked, looking at her, confused.
“Being survivors,” she said slowly. “I mean, everything we know is gone. All our friends, family-everyone. We’re the only people we have in this world, and we’re never going to get those people back.” She paused slightly, before turning to look at her brother, a desperate look on her face. She needed him to tell her that she was right, and this, everything they were going through, was worth it. She needed to hear that, or she just wasn’t going to see the point of surviving anymore. She’d rather pass over to the other side and be with the people she cared about, rather than struggling here. “So is it really worth fighting to survive like we are?”
“It’s always worth it,” he said, giving her a look. “Why do you not think it’s worth it?”
“I don’t know,” she said, burying her face in her hands as she pulled her knee up to her chest. “I’m just tired, Ed. I’m really tired.”
“Then get some sleep, alright?” he replied, before pulling her against him, draping an arm around her shoulders. “We’ve got a long drive, just-get some sleep.”
“Okay,” she murmured, before resting her head on his shoulder and curling up closer. As she closed her eyes, she tried not to think about everything she had left behind, and focus on everything ahead of her. It was what she was good at after all-Sandy had always been considered ever the optimist. But for the first time in her life-it was harder than she ever imagined possible.
