I had the opportunity this week to visit WAIS Divide, a high point on the West Antarctic Ice Sheet. The scientists out there are drilling an ice core down to 3,330 meters. Over the last few days I've had the opportunity to spend a lot of time in the Antarctic wilderness. I've had a great time and taken a bunch of pics. If you're interested, take a look at a ( long post with a bunch of pics. )

For those of you unaware, I'll be leaving Austin at the end of September for a 5-month contract position with Raytheon Polar Services Company at McMurdo Station, Antarctica about 2200 miles south of New Zealand. I expect to hang out in Oceana for a month or so once I return in mid-February.
