So.... I'm planning a Jiri cosplay.

I've been meaning to cosplay ol' Law-Law for a while now, but I've been sticking him on the backburner a little too much. However! Arda Wigs recently put some of their lace-front wigs on clearance, so I got a wig that I intend to use for him. Unfortunately, they ran out of the lighter greens before I could get one, so I'm going to be dying a teal wig so his hair will be a little on the dark end, but still. Lace-front Jiri wig for a good price, heck yeah!

I'm now just trying to finalize my fabric selection for him. I've always wanted to do him in brocade, since he's pretentious like that, but at the same time, I don't want to go TOO flashy with it. So since the blue part of his changshan is the most prevalent colour, I'm thinking of light blue fabric with light blue details - very subtle, like this: http://www.amazon.com/Brocade-Jacquard-Satin-Fabric-Exchange/dp/B00E5QEIE4/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1394252896&sr=8-1&keywords=light+blue+brocade

(Also, another character I'm planning on cosplaying also has an outfit that I plan to do in brocade with light blue sections, and I was considering using the same light blue for both of them, which is another reason why I want a fairly neutral light blue so it'll be easier to co-ordinate with the other character's outfit as well.)

Maybe I won't use exactly that fabric for the blue, but something pretty neutral like that. I did spot a white brocade with white stitching that had birds on it that I could possibly dye light blue (though I'd rather try and keep it simple).

However, I'm not sure if I want the purple part to be as conservative as the blue or if I should go with something a little more interesting. They make a purple version of the above fabric, which I could use:http://www.amazon.com/Brocade-Jacquard-Purple-Fabric-Exchange/dp/B00E5QGSXI/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1394252995&sr=8-2&keywords=purple+brocade+fabric

I do wonder if that using that purple with the above blue might actually work out to be a bit too plain. I wonder if I should go with something like this damask design, an aesthetic with ties to the Victorian era and the high-class dandies of the time: http://www.amazon.com/Egyptian-Damask-Polyester-Brocade-Fabric/dp/B00HYN32X8/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1394252995&sr=8-6&keywords=purple+brocade+fabric

Or perhaps this dragon fabric, as it's hard to go wrong with dragons:http://www.amazon.com/Purple-Dragon-Floral-Brocade-Fabric/dp/B005Y63H14/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1394252995&sr=8-4&keywords=purple+brocade+fabric

If I could find a good purple phoenix/peacock brocade, that might be especially fitting, but so far the best I seem to be able to find is one that has both phoenixes and dragons: http://www.syfabrics.com/View.aspx/Chinese-Satin-Dragon-Phoenix-Brocade/Purple-Dragon-Brocade/338/176

The only phoenix-centric one I've found so far focuses entirely on the tail feathers, not the bird as a whole. And it's a black fabric with purple feathers rather than being a purple fabric: http://www.etsy.com/listing/158569151/cbs-603-chinese-brocade-fabric-violet

What do you guys think?
