I don't give a rat's-arse about Halloween until it's over with and all the shops start selling off the leftover chocolate at a discount.
Do I want everyone to shut up about it?
No, but parents need to wind their kids in, and also accept some people just don't have any interest in Halloween.
The last 2 years running, I have put a polite sign on my door stating that I didn't wish to be disturbed and that I didn't have any sweets to give out.
I got several parents calling me all manner of lovely names, as if I'd threatened to set Jimmy Saville on them, as well as bunches of kids hammering on my door with both hands, all at once.
Call me a grouch all you want but, it's all because of inconsiderate people that I am so anti on Halloween these days.
Have fun, stay safe, respect other people and don't bother them if it's clear they don't wish to be bothered.
Besides, if I gave your kids sweets on any other day of the year I'd be arrested!
