When they first were released, my husband was going through all of his characters looking at the new ones, and the only races he didn't have were Night Elves, so he hopped onto my Night Elf hunter to take a peep at them. I had logged out in my RP gear, which was the tuxedo pants and a Sage's Cloth of the Random Enchantment shirt, which when paired with the tuxedo pants, looks like a casual long-sleeved shirt.
He gave her the ponytails, and started walking back and forth in front of the barbershop muttering "holy Jesus it's like every naughty babysitter line I can think of is smacking me right in the face ... was the nelf female walk ALWAYS this ... prancy?"
Not only are they eye-rollingly cliche, but they look so terrible. All lumpy and streaky.
Yes, thank you. They were horribly rendered and designed. Really, the crew in charge of the models should be ashamed for even putting that in the game. But who am I to say? Obviously I don't have an eye for detail at all.

When I made my mage, I said to myself that I'd use the little buns for her wearing her hair up to keep it out of the way and nice and tidy ... but then I went into the barbershop and looked at it closely. I was sorely disappointed with how poorly it was rendered, especially on my poor old computer that has to run every setting at low lest it burst into tears and flames. It's like they weren't even paying attention to the way the hair was supposed to go for a style like that as opposed to the way it IS going in-game.
