Some of you may have wondered (then again, you probably haven't wondered) why I haven't talked more about All Shook Up. Why I haven't been prowling the Internet for more reports and blog entries and things. Why I haven't been moaning and groaning and pining over a production I never got to see. (The last performance was on December 30th.)
The truth is, I don't know. I think in general my energy levels have depleted from sheer being-away-from-Japan-ness, and it lowers my patience for searching the web and sifting through the ramblings of hyper Japanese girls.
What all this is leading up to, though, is last week I emailed my friend Fukuda-san from Alice Club after months of both of us failing to write to the other. And she emailed me back, and I had to share. <3
(This was written on December 30th or 31st, Japan time.)
Long time no see. Of course I remember you! I'm sorry for not contacting you at all.
I saw Alice-chan again four days ago - on the first day of the Osaka performance. For "All Shook Up", in order to be close to the person she loves she disguises herself as a man - but it was easy with a hat, leather jacket, jeans, and gray powder on her face to look like a beard. Still, she sang in a lower voice, her natural voice - different from the speaking style she uses in Takarazuka - and in expressing the moment she fell in love through dance, the dancing was also fairly hard. Her exchanges with Wataru-kun were funny, and she looked like she was really enjoying herself while singing and dancing... With this outside performance, it seems that the depth of her art has grown even more.
There was only de this time, but somehow I made it to all four demachi. On the first day it was just me and a staff member, but on the following days there were two or three other people at demachi.
It's gotten pretty cold over here. I think it's going to be rough in February and March for iri/de.
I want to see you too~! When the new performance starts, I'll mail you a report again.
Oh, my club. I guess there are more members in Tokyo or something, because it still surprises me that the iri/de turnout is so small.
Anyway, <3 <3 <3 to Fukuda-san. What I've read in other blogs is, again, how wonderfully Alice-chan sings in a lower register, and a couple people have said how useless it is for her to try to look like a man when she's so cute. ^_^;; And, you know, lots of stuff about Wataru that... it's not as if I don't care... it's just that my angel is my priority. I already know Wata-san is sexy and amazing, but I never ever get tired of hearing people blather about how Alice-chan is sexy and amazing. ;-)
But now it's all over, and she's back with her family troupe rehearsing for Dawn Wind / Passion. I should translate the comments that Alice-chan has written for the "secret" club website - she basically only posts on special days (shonichi / senshuuraku / shinjin kouen) and when announcements pertaining to herself are made (like about "All Shook Up" or shinko lead announcements, etc.), and they're not very long, but of course I love any and all words that come from her. <3
I'll do that tomorrow, though. I should have been asleep so long ago... ^^;;;
all shook up,
