Kacha ga Odoru Toki (haha I am lame >.>;;;)

I never did finish that Sanspo article translation, but the press conference footage is up now and everyone's talking about it and I'd rather say something here than have to comment in everyone's journals.

What I got from the article, which is a tidied-up version of what appears to have actually been said:

Nagina is a young member facing her seventh year since entering; also, an otokoyaku. Moreover she was selected from Soragumi, not Tsukigumi. Koike explained that she was chosen by audition. According to Koike at first there was a screening within Tsukigumi, but he couldn't choose an appropriate candidate [hate you, Koike-sensei]. After some time, he began to think that an unpredictable, fresh casting -- like Sena's Elisabeth four years ago -- perhaps that would be best [HATE YOU, KOIKE-SENSEI].

And thus it became a screening of the entire company. At the end of last year, he heard Nagina's singing, etc. She's an otokoyaku with an established reputation for dancing, but was recognized by the music staff for her singing ability. Nevertheless, her normal speaking voice is also somewhat high. Her weakness is singing in the lower range that is expected of otokoyaku. As an otokoyaku she is far from perfection. However, Koike zeroed in on that. "I thought, with the fact that she hasn't perfected herself as an otokoyaku -- wouldn't she be able to cover the singing range that Takarazuka requires for Elisabeth?" In addition, he thought perhaps she had the special qualities of Elisabeth -- a woman of extraordinary figure and overflowing with vitality. In this way, he says, he chose Nagina.

From here, here's the gist of a few other things.

Sena: "I also received the role of Elisabeth as a special appearance in Tsukigumi, coming from Hanagumi. I'm the one who can understand [Nagina's] feelings the most."

T______T >.> ;__________;

The night before was the first time the two of them had practiced together.

That means Kacha finished her performance in Nagoya at about 6:45PM, took a 1.5-hour shinkansen ride to Tokyo and presumably went straight into rehearsing with Asako that evening.

I received a lot of faith from seeing Kacha as Oscar. I mean, I won't lie and say her high-range singing doesn't leave some room for improvement. It's good, but not Elisabeth-good yet. Not that Asako's Elisabeth WAS that good.

I just keep vacillating between worrying about how hard she'll be working, and wanting to believe with every fiber of my being that she'll be outstanding.

Need to write her another letter before Berubara is over.
