Sorry, been awfully infatuated with Brain Salad Surgery after finally getting a decently-remastered copy of it (rrrrhem). It's like a perpetual chain of Jerusalem and Toccata with the occasional indulgence in Karn Evil 9 all over again. ELP, oh ELP.
I watched Benjamin Button yesterday.
It was definitely good though nothing particularly fantastic - then again I guess it's because it's mostly about the details in the interaction rather than the story per se since anyone could guess what would happen. I don't have much to say honestly other than it was solidly directed (to my untrained eye, anyway) and I appreciated the poignant moments. My fun-hating side keeps wishing they'd show Benjamin acting out of sync with modern times like other old people do despite him being in a young body, but then again I suppose the point is that he wouldn't? I don't know. Also, I just can't stop thinking how biologically impossible it is (way to miss the point of the show, really). Nevertheless, good film, and I appreciate being reminded that everyone gets mentally old at some point regardless of their looks. I like that it's a story "listened to" by Daisy for one last time.
Slumdog Millionaire opened today but I couldn't be arsed to get tickets which would prolly be sold out anyway; I'm hoping to go on Monday. Whee. It's NC-16 after all.
I also watched all of Xam'd recently. What the flying fornication was that? All I have to say is facepalm.png and that hand better be live action.
I got the Dennou Coil artbook some time back - it is truly quite awesome. It's pretty interesting to see how many things evolved since 2000. Don't ask me too much about it yet, I'm taking my own sweet time to read it...
Anyway, I'll slowly translate it and put it all up cos it's really worth seeing all the stuff Iso had planned for the show. Some things: Isako as we know her is the merger of the originally intended Isako and Michiko (who was supposed to be an actual character), Coil was supposed to be an actual illegal pet, Original Haraken was NOT cute, Satchii as you all know literally looked like the stuff of nightmares, um... and so on and so forth. The onii-chan factor was intended from the start, of course, no escaping that.
It's cool seeing how he even designed the general specs of the digital glasses down to memory size and whatnot - sure, it might not be technically accurate (and coming from 2000, outdated: he didn't consider Moore's Law I'm sure) but it's soooo fun looking at it.
Here's two crappy pictures I have no clue why I took. They're not even representative of the book really. They have almost nothing to do with what I just described. Hooray.
Summaries of the originally-planned episodes with image boards (did Iso have more of these? BECAUSE IF HE DID I WOULD TOTALLY BUY A BOOK OF THEM. NOW.) If you can read them, notice which plot elements have been kept and which haven't. Yes, the story still has lots of silly bits. Yes, crazy girl with red eyes is Michiko.
You know the world couldn't function without a picture of Densuke and Oyaji being buddy-buddy.
Did I mention I had bought a Tekkon Kinkreet book while I was in SF? I did?
In other news, the family household has now gained possession of a new chair from Ikea that is basically
a pink MRT seat with a butt-hole and swivelly legs. But it is the hot seat...
The supposedly adjustable support does not work. I should call Ikea and inquire but I had a coffee against my better judgment and currently fancy like murdering the nearest furry alkaline beanpole.
À la Ballmer.
(P.S. I went wild with the, uh, can I say it - camwhoring? - at 1 am the other day and for the benefit of some of you certain folks who haven't had a good look at my mug recently,
enjoy. I like my haircut, alright.
1156 if you're reading this I demand photos of your hair. :<)
edit: I have rediscovered the perfect solution for bored late nights -
Been sooooooooooooooooooooooo long. Pity I didn't have anyone to do it with for a while. You know what's so good about this, you don't have much room to spend too much time on stupid things. You just draw. Quickly.
Man, what is this, 2006?
