This evening, Male BFF and I went to see SHERLOCK HOLMES! And I REALLY, REALLY ENJOYED IT. ajksfkhdgf it was completely ridiculous and the plot was utter nonsense, but THAT IS MORE THAN OKAY WITH ME. I love nonsensical plots, especially when they are fuelled by such blatant homoeroticism. And good lord was that some blatant homoeroticism.
And then you know what's even better than homoerotic subtext? HOMOEROTIC SUBTEXT WITH LUDICROUS FIGHT SCENES AND EXPLOSIONS AND WTF BOXING AND GLORIOUS THINGS.
Also, now I see what other people see in RDJ. He is a hottie. He should dress in nineteenth century garb and strip off to smack down beefy men ALWAYS.
So anyway, I found it delightful and very entertaining. And very, very gay. Like, seriously, wow. RDJ and Jude Law really wanted to hook themselves some slashers, huh? CONSIDER ME HOOKED. I mean, okay, I have been shipping Holmes/Watson for years so I'm not exactly a new convert here, but now I can ship them whilst mentally picturing them as RDJ AND JUDE LAW. Excellent.
Althooough, I am not really a fan of Rachel McAdams. I'm sorry, Rachel McAdams :( You didn't work for me as Clare in The Time Traveller's Wife and you didn't work for me as Irene Adler either. But I wanted to steal her dresses, so there is that.
I hope this film will pull a Star Trek and reboot the Sherlock Holmes fandom. I think I read everything that was halfway decent last time I went through a Holmes-y phase. BRB HUNTING DOWN OLD FIC. I MAY BE SOME TIME.
(And the Doctor Who Christmas special gave me a serious yearning to reread my old Doctor/Master faves, too. I feel a nostalgia binge coming.)
