how to buy Girl Scout cookies

Selling Girl Scout cookies is not just a money-maker. It's also a way for girls to learn to set goals and work toward them. That's all part of GS's scheme to turn little girls into the leaders of tomorrow. So before you buy cookies, ask the seller what her goal is, how close she is to her goal, and that sort of thing. Reinforce the lesson that the Girl Scouts are giving her the opportunity to learn (and which is sometimes lost on parents and even leaders).

If cookies aren't on your diet, you can buy a box for charity. Most troops select one charity or another to receive donated cookie boxes.

If you want more of your donation to stay local, you can straight-up donate $4 to the troop, and the troop keeps all of it. Otherwise most of the money goes elsewhere.
