Suurlähettiläät soundchecking at "Maailma kylässä" -festival in Kaisaniemi park in Helsinki.

An interesting detail is that there are no stage monitors at all, but the whole band is using in-ear monitoring. Really nice to see that some old bands are taking advantage of technological innovations and not sticking to old traditions.

Tonight (Friday) I'll be doing lights for Kuroshio Current when they'll be playing at Hakei Waveform (held at Gloria in Helsinki).

The reason why I asked the guys if they'd like me to do it was when I saw Sylvain doing lights for VNV Nation there. He made some really impressive things, so it was very inspiring and I've decided to give it a go.

Last weekend I did my first real live sound engineering job. I was hired to do the sounds for a couple metal bands that were playing at an opening event for a motorcycle accessories store.

The new bass speaker worked like a charm despite the fact that I didn't have time to calibrate the sound system using RTA-equipment. Well, I just have to do it on Friday then.

I made a wild guess that the artists would use the speaker as a foot rest just like a monitor wedge. In a way I was right, but when Ville Kalliosta climbed on stage he used it ( Read more... )

Yesterday it was time to help a friend to make his new amplifier racks ready for use. He runs a small company that rents PA and lighting equipment.
