In your own space, create a fanwork. A drabble, a ficlet, a podfic, or an icon, art or meta or a rec list. A picspam. Something. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.
I. Tumblr RP Fic
So, before I rec my newest fic (and possibly add to this post through the day depending on when I write my 1 Million Word Prompts tonight/this week), I want to talk about Tumblr RP.
Tumblr is an absolutely lousy forum/format for gaming. Like absolutely horrendous, can't think of a format I've liked worse. At least with chat gaming in my early teens, I never knew anything about logs or keeping or rereading later yet. But since going through my many years of PBEMs, and then LJ/DW gaming, I know all about being able to reread the sheer volume of story arcs read, how to rec them, have had communities form around a side-game between myself and another writer, and turned out story pieces like volumes/chapters in a book.
But.
Tumblr has to massively amazing, seductive, truly brilliant things going for it that always drag me back these last few months. The first -- it has an amazingly widespread, mostly-active H50 contingent which almost cannot be found anywhere else. The second -- (and more important to the below, and a thing no other gaming format I've ever been in used to such a great degree) they are always circulating prompts, for fic, gaming, interactions, questionnaires, things that get you in your characters head thinking's about five million different situations. A day. A week. A month.
These things come out of everywhere and nowhere, and like 1 Million Words, they fill me with a whole lot of inspiration. The fic I'm about to rec came out of one of those ones circulating in Tumblr, that I mentioned to my cohort writer and literally almost had sudden near-screaming of DO IT. So I put a pin in it, finished out my/our 12 Days of Jersey II, and then this happened very much so the very night 12 Days ended --
Title: 00:00:00
Characters: Steve McGarrett (John McGarett, Victor Hesse, Governor Jameson, Danny Williams)
Word Count: 1001
Time period: 1.01 AU/Prequel
Prompt: In a universe where everyone is born with numbers on their wrists counting down to when they'll meet their soul-mate, send me 00:00:00 for my muses reaction to their numbers hitting zero when they meet yours.
He doesn’t notice until it’s too late, and even though more than seventy-five percent of the world would boggle at the notion of it, it’s not like they could blame him. This brings me back up to speed with Snowflake!
(Expect updates to this post later tonight with today's 1 Million Words 100-in-110 prompts I need to do today, too.)
