Day 5

In your own space, talk about a creator. Show us why you think they are amazing. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.

I. One Million Words [LJ Comm] This started out last year as a group I was only watching from the peanut gallery (where I follow/rss/read pretty much every H50 five written a day/week/month). As I knew of it from the dustballs and not looking very close in, it was a community bound and determined to prompt, challenge and keep each other on track, that was predominantly H50 writers, all working toward producing 1 Million Words last year.

In the end they far exceeded their main goal and when New Years rolled over a few days ago, they'd actually met their grand goal-change in the middle of the year Ten Million Words. Somewhere in the middle of last year I started being so impressed with their output and then envious, watching with my fingers on the glass, because it was stunningly amazing, what they were accomplishing.

So this year (you know, all seven days of it thus far) I joined in and they have been constantly blowing my socks off left and right since I did so.

It's as massive or minor as you want your involvement to be -- you set your own challenge numbers, and whether it's per day, week, month, etc); the scope of the writing -- they are predominantly H50 writers, but they cheerlead everything from h50 to every other fandom to poetry to original writing, so long as you are turning our numbers, they are cheering you on to meet your goals; I was vastly impressed seeing the love fest from one writer who writes original fic and doesn't feel comfortable sharing her work publicly on the internet, having a lovefest on the community being so supportive of her all last year, in meeting her needs, and making her feel welcome on every level.

And that's before you get into THE ENDLESS CHALLENGES AND GOALS AND INSPIRATIONAL THINGS (in seven days, no really!). There are daily prompts, and weekly ones, and monthly ones, and everything everywhere. And, again, it's as little or as much as you want to do in those. They are all just tossed out there to inspire you to brand new things as you do or don't feel inspired to get involve with it. They had a love on meme for fic writers over the weekend, and then one for original writers on Monday.

They even have posts that come along and tag you for how you are doing keeping to your number count promises (whether by days, like for the 100-in-100 challenge I signed up to which is daily [or 700 words at the end of 7 days , like I did], or there's a recently 20% check-in for those with a monthly goal, too). I'm so excited for this comm and reaching my 1000/3100 for the month and being involved, cheerleaded/cheerleading, basically getting all involved with this group this year.
