The End of the Beginning
There’s no hesitation in your steps, as languid and unhurried as it may seem. You open the driver’s door and you take a seat in the car you proudly call your own. I take one look at you and I’m lost. You take one look at me and I realize that I still can’t see you. I seize that moment to breathe and say words to you that took all of what I had. You don’t notice and you’re unfazed. I let go and let my emotions shatter against the cold, dark night and the moon… The moon continues to shine as you drive away. But as you drive away, you still take my heart with you and I wonder every minute of every day if I’ll ever get it back.
