April the First, happy b-day to Clamp!

Apr 01, 2007 18:02

Yes it is April Fool's day (one of my least favorite days), but I do have to wish happy birday to Sakura from CCS and Tusbasa, Sayoran since in Tusbasa his b-day is April First, to Watanuki from xxxHolic, Clamp (their "birthday" is April First, hence the reason so many of the Charcters have this for a birthday) and, last but not least, to April from the Comic Strip For better or For Worse. I love April, she's my age, the other peoplein that comic also age realistically, and the troubels they go though are so, normal I guess.
Anyway, I owe you guys an explanation on the whole Demon Water thing. It comes from one of Diana Wynne Jones books (she wrote Howl's Moving Castle which was turned into the Miyzaki movie, very good book). The book, The Dark Lord of Derkholm, could be her best book and is written based off another book she wrote earlier called, The Travlers Guide to Fantasy Land, which is a guidebook all to cliches in writing.
Anyway, here's the excerpt:
They had just settled down again when Elda shot through the front door with shrill screams. "He isn't there! He's gone to call up a demon. Look!" She held out towrad them a fruit that clowed oragne in the twilight.
"Since when does an apple mena you're calling a demon?" Kit wanted to know.
"Stupid! It's underneath! I've got it skewered on my talon!" Elda squawked.
"You dipped your talon in a deomn?" Don said.
For the record it was an orange she was holding (not an apple like Kit thought) and all of those characters, their griffins. And their dad is human. Yeah, weird book, but it is so awesome!
Oh, and I got this cool new manga book, it's actually a collection of manga style artwork by none Japanese artists. I put together this small slideshow of it with the artist names there, if you happen to find this book in the bookstore I would advise at least flipping through it, the art is simiply beautiful. http://s174.photobucket.com/albums/w114/wandering-dreamer/?action=view¤t=1175464445.pbw
And while I am on the subject, I also bought two mangas at that store (it's a used bookstore called Edward McKays that we have like, $40 in store credit from last summer. It's a cool store, they use thousands upon thousands of milk crates in stead of booksheleves). The mangs were the first Chobits book and the first Tsubasa book. Hmm, now I want to read more Tsubasa. Oh and I am so excited, the anime should be released in English in the US this year! As to when, I have absolutely no idea...
Signing off!
