It turns out that we're going to Chapel Hill at 9 tomorrow morning, not 10 so that means I have to get bed earlier and, since America's Got Talent is actually good tonight (did I just hear Iron Man being played on an electric guitar with Tesla coils acting as the speakers? Hell yes!) I'm a little busy tonight. And I spent the rest of the day either helping in the library and then sewing/at Jo Annes so it just slipped my mind until late. The library wasn't as bad as I was expecting (we rotate the books out in the shop every three months, meaning each book has three months to get sold, and since that's on the first we usually have a lot of gaps for a few days) but it was still quite a bit of running around to get most of the shop filled back up. But Lucy is well, not on a rampage and certainly not senile, but she has adopted a habit of repeatedly talking about something she has just said, mainly that we need to be more specific in what donations we take in since some of the stuff doesn't sell and "we're running out of room in the back." Considering how creative I have to get with my own shelving at home, we aint' running out of space here yet, not even close in most sections. More to the point, this new thing about checking the books as they came in I think came up at some big staff meeting lately but I haven't seen them checking the donations as they came in (and we've been getting a lot of those lately, guess the lure of a receipt for a tax deduction is a strong lure, never mind the fact that most of these donations are well under $100). I'm not sure what to do though since I seem to be one if not the only person whose noticed the dissonance, think it's time for mommy advice....
And I had a pleasent surprise at Jo Annes. After I got all my thread I saw a little notice that the pattern making company Simplicity is having a Halloween Costume Contest with a grand prize of $1000. Very cool, I go over to look at their display to see if I could use any of them in a cosplay I could enter and lo and behold the first one I see would be PERFECT for my upcoming Carol cosplay. Better yet, as I was hunting down my mom to pay for stuff I wandered into the Red Tag Sale section and found a pale blue knit that would be the right color too (plus the pattern doesn't need much fabric). Didn't get them today since the pattern is $17 and the fabric would be another $12 but my mom and I are planning to go back Saturday during the big sale, she seems happy that I'm doing something she could actually recognize (1920s style dresses FTW!). But this does mean that I need to be able to crochet a cloche by the end of October which means I need to finish knitting my first leg warmer to see if that yarn would felt alright (it's the right color but it's bumpy so I'm not sure how well that'll work). Guess I know what I'm doing tomorrow, needles away!
