July the 4th and 5th: My preference in pillows seems to be changing

Not much has been going on the past few days, the fireworks this year weren't as good as last year's (which I can totally understand, think the city has more important budgetary concerns, like finding money so we DON'T have a $175 additional library fee per person >.>) but we did find a really good place this year. I remember in Cleveland we found a good spot pretty early on (a nice hill) but here we've been hopscotching all over the medical district to figure out which parking lots are the best (the hospital is okay but the sounds really vibrates off of the building, not so much where we were). Oh and I almost got run over ("Run me over why dontcha?" "Pull right up to my daughter why don't you?" "He's driving like he owns the place") by my old orthodontist whose parking lot we stole (and he took his kids on the roof, smart guy). Lit off more firecrackers at home and I got some decent photos, working on all the new controls and still need to read the manual but I'm starting to get the hang of it.

Let's see, did more reading today, posted anime review, and started planning how to alter the patterns for Kobato's shirt. Man, I have really bad luck at finding patterns that actually work, maybe I should start searching online instead since, even though Jo Annes carries a number of companies, they only have the current patterns and a wider variety could help me out here. Think I know what I'm going to do but I don't think I'll ask my mom for pattern advice again, I almost never do what she suggests since I seem to have a hard time explaining what I'm doing (could also be that we just view sewing with different techniques in mind, oh, found out last night there is a sewing machine foot that does ruffles for you, DO WANT).

And the last summer show I wanted to watch is also getting simulcast! Occult Academy is on CR now and I've having to resist the temptation to watch the CR rips since that just doesn't seem right (I was rather annoyed that at the beginning of DRRRs run I was watching fansubs, you could tell because they came out earlier than CR, but by the end I think the subbers gave up and just put out rips and that feels doubly illegal). Nurarihyon no Mago (henceforth referred to as Nura) started today and that was a pretty bad first episode. Jumped around, didn't explain the parts that could've used explaining and the art was kinda bad (a combination of only have 280p available on hulu and this being Studio Deen, oh, and Funimation certainly had 480p available for House of Five Leaves on hulu an hour after that broadcast so the simulcast excuse doesn't hold water here). Hoping the second episode is better but this was the worst first episode I've seen in a long while and first episodes normally only come in two types, insanely awesome or a bit shaky.

Gonna get off now, Ted's knee is doing even worse so he's going to go over to the hospital for crutches tomorrow and see how his Medicare is coming along (seriously, maybe the folks back in Soviet Russia are jealous of our "health care" but it sucks, I now have my own anecdotal evidence!). Glad to be at the library tomorrow, so board these days at home and it gets me out of the house. Think I have another book on hold too, trying to read more again these days and I'll argue with the fabric tomorrow too (well, it'll probably be the patterns but it's pretty similar, same cuse words anyway), signing off!
