Olivia agrees with this sentiment of mine and hopefully we'll get out to the Greenway (got my fingers crossed since she and Angela are hanging out and it's not unusual for those two to stay up until dawn these days). Suffering from "gah, it's nice outside" (and anyone who currently lives here is giving me a weird stare right about now, as long as your in the sunlight the 50 mph gusts aren't so bad, I found them rather exhilarating as I got shoved around and off the sidewalk to my lecture, then again I am a bit of an adrenaline junkie) "and I don't have a car, dammit." That's the saddest thing about living here, I'm living in these beautiful mountains with no way to get out and appreciate them. The bus routes are limited on the best of days and you really need a car to appreciate the parkway (heck, what am I doing in the Blue Ridge if I can't even use the parkway?!?). My dad had offered (had to call him last night and of course he doesn't even have much to say, psshh) to come up for lunch on Sunday but the weather is supposed to be, well, considering how many different reports I've heard I'll say at least unpredictable, and I am heading home next week. Plus, I feel really strange when my dad does visit. Like, I'm at a camp or such so I can't go home but my dad can come, play around a little, and then head back to real life at the end of it but I'm not allowed. I know it's not like that at all (and college life IS real life, just a different life) but I get depressed just thinking about it. God, I just want to be able to drive now, even though I wouldn't have a car that would make it a bit better. Also wondering why my friends never have cars, apparently Chynna and Olivia both had cars at one point but got in some nasty wrecks back in high school and the cars were totaled. Yeesshh.
So, after my lecture I went off to the public library (I keep forgetting that this isn't a small town library, it's a small county with ties to other counties and their library systems) but wasn't able to get a card since I didn't have something like a piece of mail to prove my residence. Ironically I had just checked my mailbox and wondered if plopping down a package with my address/name/date would've worked (I would've accepted it when I was at the library anyway). So, back tomorrow with a piece of mail I managed to find, and I should be getting something like three packages this week. One, from Ted, was ordered before my birthday but he "sent it 12th class" so that's why it's not here yet. My mom sent something else and I think she sent an earlier package but I haven't gotten it yet so I'm worried. Trying to work out if there was a first package sent since, if I don't get it by Tuesday, I need to freak out and see where it did go and see what post office rules can let me do.
Let's see, saw Fantastic Mr. Fox tonight which was both amusing (HOW many Big Lipped Alligator moments can you fit into one movie?!?) and creepy (seriously, all the face shots gave me uncanny valley shivers). It had a bit of a sarcastic ending too, like the screenwriters realized it could go on forever and just ended it but children would think it was a lovely ending anyway. Oh, and I was probably the only person in the entire audience who realized they were talking about some form of cricket in there and I was still completely confused.
So, off to read more tvtropes (my roommate is back so I have to keep down the laughing, and she swears she isn't the reason for the eggshells in the elevator), signing off!
Oh, one last thing; I discovered a number of years back that I'm a tiny bit Czech Republic (aka, Czechoslovakian, which I thought was the coolest word ever to say when I was a kid) and I randomly decided to wiki it today. Lo and behold, that random country in historical fiction named Bohemia is actually the same place, making me a tiny bit Bohemian! That made my day right there, sounds like a cool thing to be doesn't it?
