I've been nudged by
thesirannon and
princessrica, which I think means that it's time to crawl back out of my hole. It hasn't actually been a bad time of life ... just busy.
In February, I successfully ran my first
Scholastic Book Fair. Quite a scary machine in and of itself, but as I had no choice on whether or not to run it, I am quite proud of the way it went off. Very few items stolen, more money spent on books than on erasers shaped like fish, and each teacher received at least two books as gifts from parents of students (especially exciting as the both the involvement level and economic station of the families in my school are quite low). A woman donated $1000 to the school so that 200 kids who wouldn't otherwise have been able to afford book were able to choose one to take home. Awesome.
In March, I started a painting project in the library. After much ado over color (first red, then green, then purple), I called in a professional (my friend's decorator-mom) who took one look at the place and said "you have to do blue." Painted part of it before break and it looks lovely. I have received nothing but compliments on it. This is why decorators make the big bucks. They just know what needs doing.
That's work in a nutshell. Don't want to overwhelm you all at once, so I'll be back.
Oh! And I finally got pictures back from when
antof9 and I went to the RenFest, so I'll be posting those, too. (Ant's lovely post on our trip back in October
here.)
