Today I am doing NOTHING at work. I don't even care. I have been SO freakin' busy the past 2 months that I'm going to just do absolutely nothing work related and not even feel bad about it. :) I'm going to read some ficlets, catch up at Lee Adama Daily, Kara Thrace Lives and No-Takebaks.
I'm also going to write up a big, huge, long post later about

If anything I'd recommend people watch maybe the last half of S3 to get an idea of what's going on. It's honestly not one of those shows you HAVE to watch from the beginning. Of course it helps to understand a few things but it's not vital IMO. S4 and S5 are just golden. It's the introduction of the mythology (and that bad-ass beautiful angel pictured below) that hooked me into obsession mode. I also love how it's the only show I know of in recent history that literally says, "SCREW DESTINY, you always have a choice" on nearly a weekly basis. :) However, like you said the lack of well written women and/or killing off any/all popular characters except for Sam and Dean is my biggest rant and pet peeve with the show and it's a HUGE glaring problem with the show.
The sad thing is, it's the female show WRITERS on the show end up writing a majority of the episodes that kill off or ruin the characterization of the awesome female characters that do show up. It's the weirdest thing I have ever seen... *shrug* -- Ok this is getting long now. LOL! Maybe I'll make up a couple "must watch" episodes from S1 - S3 and then just have you watch S4 and S5. Then perhaps I'll just advise you to quit then because S6 is a ridiculous mess. But that's a rant for later.
