This morning I watched the pilot episode of a show some of you have probably already seen. The episode title was 'A Hard Day's Night', and the show itself was a medical relationship drama called Grey's Anatomy.
Ringing any bells...??!
OMG YOU GUYS. MY BABIES! I can't really remember exactly how I felt the first time I saw this episode, but I do know that I have never re-watched it. BIGGEST MISTAKE EVER.
It's so interesting to watch it now with all the knowledge I have of what comes next. For a pilot episode of a show that only had nine episodes ordered at that stage, they really did set some obvious groundwork in place. Not least of which was the Meredith/Cristina friendship. UTTER PERFECTION FROM THE GET-GO, OH EM GEEEE.

It was also fun picking scenes that are embedded in my memory only because they were iconned and used repeatedly by some of my flisties.
miss_blanche in particular, I think a couple of her go-to icons are from the pilot (including one of Meredith from the scene I linked above).
Other take homes from the pilot?
Why was the Chief of Cardiothoracic Surgery doing an appendectomy?
Izzie's glasses should have their own appreciation society.
George's earnest, hopeful, "We're gonna survive this, right?" to Meredith at the end was so incredibly foreshadowing and almost made me crrryyyyyy.
Alex has come A LONG WAY. Also, Baby Justin Chambers was HOT.
Cristina, dropping truth-bombs.
You did a cutthroat thing.
Deal.
Don't come to me for absolution.
Want to be a shark, be a shark.
- I'm not -
Oh, yes you are.
Only it makes you feel bad in your warm, gooey places.
And, on that note, I'm going to go and watch episode two!
