Via email, because LJ hates her, catteo requested my Top Five Canon OTPs of 2013 and my Top Five Non-Canon OTPs of 2013. For the purposes of this meme, I'm taking canon to mean, at any point in the 2013 season (or the season of the show that I watched/re-watched in 2013), not, like, right now canon, if that makes sense. And non-canon is: never happened, never likely to happen, hey, these characters aren't even in the same showwwww!! Because I can. Also, I'm 99% sure catteo meant OTP in the romantic sense as opposed to the BFF sense which I sometimes (incorrectly but deliberately) use it, so these are ~romantic relationships (though I do shudder using that term in conjunction with couple number one!).
Canon
ONE | Walt/Skyler | Breaking Bad
Do I even need to explain that one? Actually, I probably do. Now that I think about it, it probably seems like an AWFUL choice for an OTP! But, I honestly think the portrayal of their relationship in those final eight episodes was, quite possibly, my favourite thing about season 5.2. I mean, I loved it from the get-go, but to see where it ended up was a stunning piece of storytelling, backed up by some of the best acting you could ever hope to see. They really were a match made in heaven as far as the story of Walter White's demise goes. There're aren't many character 'types' who could have been written into the role of his wife and worked AS PERFECTLY as Skyler did, on a number of levels. Not to mention the effect Walt's shenanigans had on Skyler herself, what she became, what she was capable of, how seamlessly she fell into parts of it. For me, this relationship is the EPITOME of a dark!ship done RIGHT. And seriously, it is SO FREAKING DARK at times.
Besides clips from the show itself, I can't find a fanvid of these two that covers their 2013 relationship, so I'm going to cheat and use one that shows their relationship in all years EXCEPT 2013!
I just trawled through some of the most obnoxious, offensive, and down-right disgusting tumblr posts I've ever seen to try and find some artwork or an image for here that I think encapsulates these two, and just... I give up. I can't read anymore of that rot. Have this gif I found...

Also, may I just take this moment to VEHEMENTLY PROTEST the distinct LACK of fanwork (art, fic, vids, ALL THE THINGS) dedicated to Cary/Kalinda? I mean... there's pretty much nothing! THIS IS NOT GOOD ENOUGH! Please make me things, people! PLEEEEASE.

NON-CANON OTP OF MY HEARRRRRTTTTT. Not even the perfection that is Gail/Holly will stop me from wanting Luke and Gail to hook up. Or to be friends. Or to share scenes. Or to, like, WALK PAST EACH OTHER AT A DISTANCE.
Given the show looks set to give us all the Holly/Gail (and hopefully Luke/storyline of some sort) next season, I am more than happy to live in the Luke/Gail land of fanfic and flail with my fellow hey_homicideers. Also, I love that, by the powers vested in us, we have managed to convice the WORLD AT LARGE that this is actually canon when, in reality... hehe.
TWO | Peter/Carrie | Homeland
PETER TOTALLY HAS HEARTS IN HIS EYES FOR HER!!!! I mean, they're not even really non-canon at this point, more... unrequited!
I also want to point out that I've actually 'shipped this 'ship since Peter first arrived on the scene. I don't know if it's because I've never 'shipped Carrie/Brodie and was desperately seeking an alternative, but, yeah... there's just something about the idea of these two that GETS TO ME. And that's really only become even be more-so the case as the show has progressed.
THREE | Debbie/Sue | Puberty Blues
THESE TWO!!! As much as I love the Debbie/Gary dynamic, I really just want these two to forget all about the boys they so desperately crave and the girls they so desperately want to be like and just, I dunno, be each other's everything. Even though they already are each other's everything. Just, without the kissing. THERE SHOULD SO BE KISSING IS ALL I'M SAYING...
If you have any intention of maybe watching this show then... DON'T WATCH THIS VIDEO! It's a seemingly simple scene that actually means EVERYTHING in the context of what has gone on in season one.
Note | I should probably point out that, for the purposes of the show (and the movie that came out in 1981) the characters have been 'aged up'. In the book they're only thirteen. I am not advocating sexy times between two thirteen year old girls, FYI...

The list for the NON-CANON OTPs though?? THAT WAS HAAAARD, MAN! I mean, I ship characters who don't even exist in the same universe...! I just find it so much safer than canon shipping (*cough* Alex/Izzie *cough*).
