I watched this show from the start pretty much and I honestly think that's played a big part in why it's my most favourite show of all time. If I'd mainlined it all in one go, I think I'd still have been blown away by it (particularly from a technical and story-telling perspective), but by watching it from the start with ZERO expectations and NO HYPE whatsoever to skew my expectations, the show just TOOK OVER MY LIFE. I literally went in expecting NOTHING. I knew nothing about the premise. Nothing about the characters. Nothing about anything. There was no fandom to speak of and absolutely zero media coverage/hype in the early days. It was literally just me and the show and a handful of other people I managed to find on LJ and that was it, watching this THING unfold before our very eyes.
It was an ethereal experience! I REGRET NOTHING even if it has ruined all other television for me!
Well, not really. BUT PRETTY MUCH!
catteo and I watched House of Cards while we were travelling around the US so we managed to drag it out a little bit. We both loved it.
Re: The Killing. I wasn't a huge Holder fan this season, but I loved Sarah (and Bullet and Lyric and Ray) TO DEATH. I also found the show disappointing at times with the way it handled different things but, mostly, I loved it SO FREAKING MUCH. Sarah's relationship with Ray was GLORIOUS. Peter and Mireille were FLAWFREE together.
Re: Roswell. I'm still really enjoying it, even though so much of it makes me ROLL MY EYES. The whole saga with the 'twins' from New York City was SO PAINFUL OMG. It even made me dislike Katie Heigl for a while there, which is SAYING SOMETHING! I still love Isabel and Maria the most. And Tess.
Re: Prisoners. catteo and I watched that one at TIFF when it premiered and yeah, we both left the theatre at the end kinda stunned! Also, I agree with you re. JG in that movie, because, DAMN! And then there's the media rounds that he and HJ did together which are LOLTASTIC.
I really hope you like TSoOHC. I'm one chapter off finishing my re-read and yeah, it still gets to me. I hope it doesn't hit too close to home for you. Or that it does and is handled really well, if that's what you'd prefer. BASICALLY I JUST HOPE YOU LIKE IT!
I haven't read TtWIH, but I've heard of it (probably via you on tumblr actually!! Haha!) and it's definitely on my TO READ list. Which is ridiculously long but now I have time and YAY!!!!!! BOOOKSSSSS!
